NORD STAGE 4 officially announced for February 16th 2023

May be I am the only one really happy with what I see: we have a a Nord Piano 5, a Nord Wave 2 and a Nord Electro in one single instrument that can all be layered together and on top a very powerful even better effects section.

I would ask different:

- What can a Piano 5 do that the Stage 4cant?
- What can a Wave 2 do that a Stage 4 can't do?
- What can the Electro do that the Stage 4 can't do?

Once again! Much talk on this thread about "SONG MODE".
For 5 to 6 grand they surely could have made room for this feature that so many musicians use! To me it doesn't
look like it would have taken up more space to keep it! Or could it be that the sliders & pretty led lights took up to much space? Lol! Nevertheless it will have some functions that will attract the eyes & ears to buy it! For me not enough to the ticket price....

I don’t understand your reaction here. Of course it make sense that everyone here judges the new model against his or own preferences and needs. And it is up to Nord to make a more general choice which way they want to develop. So no, it’s not aggravating and I don’t expect everyone here to praise the Lord about what they produced.

When it comes to specs and price, you CAN make an honest comparison to see if it’s worth the money. Not because it is red, but because of the value for your money.

How many of the 40 employees do you think they should dedicate to the „marketing team“?

Are you for real? Or are you just throwing s*** whenever you happen to think of something, without mulling over it for fifteen seconds?

I mean: I get the disappointment that Nord built a Stage 4, and didn’t reinvent the entire product category. I really do. The improvements may not be what some people hoped for, others may have been waiting exactly for this.

I also get that people are balking at the price — even though these models are CHEAPER, adjusted for inflation, than the Stage 3 was when it came out, and street prices will drop eventually. But yeah: you can get better specs and more functions, in way less accessible packages, for cheaper. Good.

But beyond that?

They threw out the HP action that everybody was complaining about, but the weight increase is stupid. I guess.

They didn’t increase memory, but Flash is ten times cheaper today than it was six years ago — well no, that’s just an outright lie, and NOR Flash is a completely different and much more expensive tech, anyway.

They have external reviewers promote their gear (like every single hardware manufacturer does): haha, look how lame, they don’t even have a marketing department!

I mean seriously: what is your problem here?

There’s enough real points of criticism and unfulfilled wishes and discussion of how Workflows might be changed that we really don’t need this made-up s***-flinging.

It’s aggravating.

World's First Look at the NEW Nord Stage 4 - At The Nord Factory!

That's an interesting video showing many of the new or enhanced functions of the Stage 4. Most of the discussion here is around high price, memory sizes still not big enough (they never will be by the way), non-improvement of the organ engine, no song mode anymore, 6-12 years old hardware technology (which is speculation and not proved at all by the way) etc. All of them are being critizised which is absolutely valid, but ..... no one (or just a few which are not heard through the continous noise of the complainers) mention the positive changes and improvements the Stage 4 brings to the table.

I guess it's unfortunately natural human behaviour to always look for the hair in the soup, and we all are trained like this since decades - just look at the news every day where I do see >90% of the reports talking about bad, negative things and barley none talking about something nice or positive things.

I suggest to also have a look at this video with these many positive changes and new features, taking them into account to get a well-balanced view.

there's a reason for that
and it makes me sad

What I am saying is that most of the complainers here are pointing out the negatives of the Stage 4, and in this video it's done in a similar way but focused on the positives. It would be good to take the positives into consideration as much as it's done with the negatives, which would result in a balanced and fair view on the Stage 4, rather than just and continously hammering on the negative sides.

Yes - we ALL know that this was marketing, but that doesn't mean that they lie, they show in fact that what they say is true.

I would love to see a similar proof of, for example, that more of the specific type of memory in the Stage 4 is easy and relatively cheap to achieve, and that the Stage 4 is based on a 6-12 years old hardware ... just let me know if you have something that underpins it

With the new layers, wondering what is really visible now on the main LCD. Is this B3 Soulful assigned to Organ A or B? or it contains the settings of both Organs?

Good question - it looks like it's displaying the names of the White Grand along with organ and synth presets, but from what I gather each preset covers a single instrument with effects. It would be a nice feature if the organ presets could be saved as single or dual layers.
