They would probably have been out of business by the end of the 90s. After all, the fact that the original Nord Lead was red was one of the reasons it got attention. At the time, all other synths were black, digital, menu based and boring. Nord made its trademark by being different (just like apple btw), and if they hadn't nobody would have bought it.

I know this is an old thread ... but spotted this chap playing a tasty looking inverted Nord on Saturday - he said he saw it on ebay and just had to buy it. I can understand that.

Wow, now THAT's a serious customization!
As if the paintjob was not enough (and it's amazing, even the control panel is repainted!) they added the reverse-coloured keys!!!
I wonder how much time and money that must have cost...

he said he thought it was a customisation done by Nord - we need Pablo's authority here - did Nord ever do these customisations? It looked like it was Factory done, not an afterthought.

Juha Kuoppala from Von Hertzen Brothers has a white Nord Stage (not sure about the exact model) with white panel instead of red, seen here:

I feel fairly certain that Nord did not do this. They did the reverse keys on the LTD edition anniversary special NL2X, but no other that I'm aware of.
Am I the only one who thinks that guy looks like Alfalfa all grown up? The photo chops the top of his head, so we can't tell if there's that little trademark curly-que sticking up...
