>they are on version D of the backup and not in previous versions (as the OP reported as well) so they could be relatively recent.<

A right-click on the White Grand XL file says created March 21, 2022
A right-click on the Studio Grand 2 M file says created March 28,2022
A right-click on the Wurlitzer 2 file says created April 20, 2022

So i don't know - seems like these have been around for awhile. Maybe that file-properties feature is erroneous but given the different dates for the samples, maybe not.

>Time to backup old versions: when things change in softwares could well be that some elder files are preferable to someone for one reason or another.,

That is good advice - I downloaded all the older samples I replaced from the Nord Libraries site just in case something "goes wrong."

I think that you made a confusion with the mono version.
The vibraphone and the marimba sounds have not been changed at all. Same version number and same size.

You are right, my bad! I pulled that post.

Well I tried uploading the White Grand XL again but it won't do it - it spins for a long time then dumps it. Probably a file size limit on uploads to this forum.

My last word on this - there's no excuse to have held these samples back from everyone else for the past year. It would take about ten minutes to add the Enhanced files and language to the Wurlitzer pages, like they did with the Rhodes:

https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... i-low-deep
https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... er-2-amped

The rest of the upgraded versions could have been quietly swapped out on the site without any fanfare at all. We can't blame the pandemic or staff shortages for this - and if there is a technical reason, it's escaped far better minds than mine on this forum. The fact that two different file versions are available in different factory restore locations on the website isn't helpful for the owners of the Piano 5, either.

https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... ory-sounds
https://www.nordkeyboards.com/downloads/nord-piano-5

It's not a happy situation, and I exhort those posters who have claimed to have no problem getting in touch with Clavia to give them a call and find out, in a nutshell, WTF.

(Snip)

PS I downloaded the new, huge Studio 2 Med and it sure sounds like the Resonance is available on all keys...which would explain its big jump in size. A mis-label, and it's actually a Large? I mean my Bright Large is 86, and this Studio "Medium" is 81.

.
The Studio Grands are the Yamaha C7s yes? You mention on 2 the resonance is more noticeable. What do you hear with Studio Grand itself? Curious as to whether it’s worth going through the process outlined for snagging those and replacing them in my Nord Grand?

And I agree - it’s good to have a non-fanboy/curmudgeon on board - it’s not all hearts and flowers all the time - nor is it all doom and gloom either. Appreciate your perspective - thanks!

Yeah I agree with you, there's something odd about this. Doesn't matter if the improvements / changes are minimal between sample versions, the way they have been (or rather haven't been...) published on the site screams disorganization by their side.

I'm not sure - it just sounds to me that there is resonance present outside of the "middle" range, which I take to be roughly C3-E5. I could be hearing something that isn't there.

i would attach it here but the file size maximum is 50MB on this forum.

Picking up on this news with interest. I have archived all the old samples and new too so have just downloaded the version D backup.

I will have a play with those new samples tomorrow and see if I can hear any difference.

Arguably if the White has been thinned out and saved circa 40MB, but the Studio Grands have increased 30MB - i'd want to hear some improvement for the extra space its occupying :)
