Hi all!

Nice features! Any idea if this new format will come to other boards as well with update?

Wow, that’s rather a lot of great new stuff!

At 10:30, that’s *exactly* what I was hoping: brass unison layering that does NOT sound like chorused layers of s***.

I’m stoked if we’re actually getting that on the Stage 3!

Yes, first page, second comment on the thread.

Which particular features will be supported on the older machines, nobody knows, of course.

I think it's reasonable to hope we will. After all the Stage 3 is still the flagship model, so why would they exclude it?

By the way looking at the way he is cracking the program knob to switch program makes me think once again that removing the page/bank buttons wasn't a good idea... why do that? :wtf:

Also, no big deal but... why putting the shift button straight below the program knob? That seems to make its operation impractical using either one or two hands... Not a significant thing but a questionable design choice...

Lol, that acoustic guitar example sounds like they recorded multiple velocity layers and are using them as RR's instead. The trick with RR sampling is to make each subtly different so that they sound natural...not to have drastically different samples with different tonalities. Unless of course it's for sound design purposes and you want that vibe, but I don't think that was what they were going for.

But he was also playing with varying velocities, so the two thing may have ended up merging together... I think we'll need to try first hand...

AFAIK, multiple velocity layers are not a feature of this new format.

In that case... Well, we'll find out soon. I am excited for the Stage 3 update which hopefully is going to fix a few other things.

I'm looking forward to that RR feature. And indeed, I was thinking the same watching that video: A bit much change in the RR cycle.

In the end, it was OK to me supposing that normally the keyboard won't play alone on a live event and those different sounds would blend better into the rest of the music. But that's only now that I understand that such a RR sounding is quite complicated to balance: Some would prefer it more subtle, some a bit beefier.

As far as I am concerned: In my bigband context, RR will only be important for solos. And while playing in a small church band or even accompanying singers just with the keys, I'd indeed prefer a rather subtle RR effect. But most time, I won't be playing a guitar sound in that case. For piano sounds, I would want RR sounds fit more into a line. My opinion: It's best if you don't hear it - just have a bit more liveliness while playing. And again: What is "a bit"?

I didn’t understand what that “natural” vibrato have to do with new sample format ? As far as I can see and hear, this is the same vibrato that is in Stage 3 and Lead A1 ?
What I miss on the Stage 3 is the ability to get the same amount of vibrato as from Vibrato DLY1 2 or 3 from aftertouch or modwheel, here you instead are getting a way over the top vibrato. The Nord Stage Classic could do it.

Here is another video I found about the vibrato part:
