Ok, I was wrong for the video...
But in a video MeX said what I said. I can't find where...
But I solved my problem with Rhodes sound! Do like this:
You have to install Nefertiti L version, than put mid eq at 1 kHz and +6db, high at +7db, then use a little drive and twin reverb sim, and then you have to sell the nord and buy a Yamaha cp73/88 and use its Rhodes. :silent:

? You do all that to then sell the Nord? :wtf: Seriously though, I am assuming those settings gave you the sound you were after.

It's a joke... To say that rhodes on Yamaha are better then the Nord's.
The parameters that I have said aren't a real advice.

Hi hrestov,

I can only say that I love the Nefertiti, no matter if it‘s the L or XL sample, for its wide range of dynamic and sound variations that give splendid control in the hands of my fingers. By using all the nuances of playing hard or soft this „Rhodes“ is very lively. I had several Korgs and Rolands, their „Tines“ supply a good sound as well, but over a long evening they are more „artificial“, there‘s a lack of naturality. It‘s a pity that I don‘t like Yamahas for other reasons (software structure), but I remember that I felt their sounds being much „beautifulized“.

Merry Christmas to everybody and warm and almost sunny regards from Germany.

... and I loved these of my former stuff: nord electro 3, Roland VR-760, Fatar Studio 1100, korg 01/W, Roland U-20

Puhhh - glad to hear that - I was just about to sell all my Nord Stages and buy a Yamaha CP88 instead

Wish all of you a merry christmas and a happy new year - stay negative and everything will be positive ;)

To each their own, but I don't find the Yamaha Rhodes (and especially pianos) to be that great. They sound good, but are also very recognizeable...especially on the older Motif lines it was very easy to tell that a Yamaha EP sample was being played. They are more tweakable than the Nord (at least in the Montage and Motif) but for raw tone I'd take a Nord any day.

I revisited this thread as I wanted to overhaul my rhodes selection and tweak them all yesterday, and wanted to see all your thoughts. I was tempted to A/B my actual rhodes to what I was hearing on my Nord, but then I thought again...as it would've driven me crazy.

kind of nuts that as I was doing all of this, the news of Chick Corea popped up on my phone. so sad, what a legend. also, made me play rhodes sounds with an increased fervor.

what I realized from that Mex video referenced above is that I've never given the MkV a proper go. then I punched myself. It's such a great sample. it may be my new go-to.

the EP2 is also one I've not paid enough attention to. both EP2 and the Mk V benefited (for me) with a boost of the mids at 3k, and a bit of twin drive.

I also compared the old Nefertiti sample to the 6.0 L and XL version. New 6.0 versions sound SO much better, but I reloaded the old one anyway just to make sure. Difference between the L and XL for me is minimal, but I liked the more well-rounded sound of the XL. This one also benefitted from the same EQ settings (bass -4db, mid boost as before, treble +3-4db).

Now I just need a gig.

Hello, here is a program i made yesterday with the EP2 Suitcase (large) sample. I did a split to emphasize different frequencies in the higher under lower octaves. I also did a layer with the "bell" sample (i can't remember exactly, but I think it was a customer sample offered here) for a little more bell attack. I did slightly different settings for this sample (loudness, decay, filter) on the upper and the lower octaves, too. Feel free to try it out - for my taste it's more satisfying to play than the dry EP2 sample. I would be interested in your opinions here.
