Nord Sample Editor NS3 - Please Nord!
Re: Nord Sample Editor NS3 - Please Nord!
>Everyone has NS3Cs in stock, for real competitive pricing.<
When does "real competitive pricing" ever happen with musical instruments? Every one of the dozen major online dealers in the USA all sell the same stuff for exactly the same price, including all the third-party shops on Amazon. And nothing ever goes on sale.

Re: Nord Sample Editor NS3 - Please Nord!
I'm using my NE5D-73 purchase last December as reference. It's still advertised at $2499 on the "big" online retailers, but I paid $1800 brand new, shipped direct from the USA distributor, from a "not big" retailer... point being, when there's a pile of NS3Cs sitting in the USA distributors warehouse, available to anyone, the retailers will start getting/giving better pricing.Gambold wrote:>Everyone has NS3Cs in stock, for real competitive pricing.<

One of the "major online" retailers called me last week to see "If I was looking for any equipment" and I told him I was interested in a NS3C. He quoted me the advertised price and I told him "no thanks, I already have two email quotes for $3200 from other people." ... they don't have to negotiate right now, due to the supply and demand of the NS3.

They have to advertise at MAP.Gambold wrote:>Everyone has NS3Cs in stock, for real competitive pricing.<

You have to call to get a real price. When I bought my NS3C - I got a small discount even though they are back ordered.
The discounts will get bigger once they are readily available.

Ya know, i'm not going to defend Clavia's foot-dragging on the sample editor release, but....if the jillions of available samples on the Nord site aren't doing it for you, one has to wonder just what you are trying to accomplish, and for whom. For me, and I suspect for a lot of other Nord users, the Sample Editor is hardly a go-to for our musical needs and use of our Nord keyboard(s).
Maybe you are working with the wrong equipment.

Your inability to understand why somebody would want or need the sample editor is a limitation on your part not a failing of those of us that have a need for functionality that was not only promised but is specifically a critical component of the NS3 and without it significantly diminishes the value of the Nord.Gambold wrote:Ya know, i'm not going to defend Clavia's foot-dragging on the sample editor release, but....if the jillions of available samples on the Nord site aren't doing it for you, one has to wonder just what you are trying to accomplish, and for whom. Yes, yes: a “real” musician doesn’t need a Synthesizer, and if a sample that can convince your tone-deaf grandma isn’t close enough, you’ve got the wrong job.Gambold wrote:Ya know, i'm not going to defend Clavia's foot-dragging on the sample editor release, but....if the jillions of available samples on the Nord site aren't doing it for you, one has to wonder just what you are trying to accomplish, and for whom. Said tone-deaf grandma isn’t going to tell the difference between a Fazioli and an MKS-20, either, though, so you’re obviously an idiot for buying a Nord in the first place.
Meanwhile, some of us have real, paying jobs that involve real, listening clients, and whatever does a better job of convincing them does a better job at feeding our families.

Re: Nord Sample Editor NS3 - Please Nord!
I wouldn’t have thought it was a big job to modify the current version of the Sample Editor software to allow it to deal with new file format for the Stage 3. I have been waiting and waiting for the editor before I consider buying a Stage 3 as like many there are just some samples I cannot gig without.

So now the lack of a sample editor is causing families to go hungry? Ok, I think this thread has officially jumped the shark
>but is specifically a critical component of the NS3 and without it significantly diminishes the value of the Nord.<
A "critical component," really? The Sample Editor? Gads, who knew. Obviously not Clavia, who mention it exactly once on their Stage 3 page, buried somewhere down near the bottom:
>and it is even possible to create and transfer your own samples using the Nord Sample Editor (coming soon). <

Your definition of "critical" is obviously rather different from others' definition.
I mean, your definition doesn't even include synthesisers, and I make part of my career out of them…!
