Like Pablo told me, I think we need to be patient and wait...
As regards to the poor midi implementation of the montage, it was the reason I bought at the discount price a motif XF7 white.
I don't see any reason Clavia would change the midi implementation and would not add the Leslie 122 close into their new flagship. But latch/kbd gate were remove so...time will tell I guess.
I will wait until I receive mine in September and hopefully we'll have some good news by then...
Let's better wait and see what is really going on in the final product and after the first round of updates, before jumping into apocalyptic conclusions.
Same with the nsmp versions. It is most puzzling why they would force a divide between all their previous instruments with a large bank of excellent samples vs. their only new model, if there is no functional advantage. Maybe all their instruments will end up having the OS updated to support v3 samples?
Hopefully the nwiproj files should still be readable so we can produce v3 samples from old projects without much pain.

So, I'm new here. I have been reading a lot about the NS3 and I CANNOT wait! I have my Nord Stage 3 88 on order from Sweetwater. I'm so excited because this is my first true keyboard purchase since college (many years ago)! I previously had a Yamaha digital piano and currently have a Yamaha grand piano. I have been using virtual instruments on my Mac mostly in the last 5 years or so.
I must say that I am a bit overwhelmed by looking at the manual for the NS3. Mostly, it's the live performance and program/song storage and synth programming functionality that I find confusing. I'm worried that there is going to be MIUCH for me to learn to become comfortable with it. I have a few questions that I'm hoping people can point me in the right direction...
1. How does the Dual Kbd function work in practice? Does the Dual Kbd feature allow me to play ANY of the piano/organ/synth instruments from an external controller? Right now, I have an Akai Advance 61 and I would love to be able to use it for synth and organ while I use the NS3 for primarily piano. I cannot discern at all from the manual how to set up Dual Kbd other than the MIDI in channel that the NS3 listens on. Any guidance is appreciated.
2. Are there general tutorials that are available for the NS2 that I might take advantage of that might help me be more prepared once the NS3 arrives?
3. Are there tutorials that might specifically help me learn the synth section in advance? I have extremely limited experience programming synths. I've relied on presets and making minor tweaks to those all my life. With this one, I would really like to understand how the synth works and how to program it.

Yes you are right. Reading the NS3 manual I seemed to understand that the triple pedal could be used for this, but now I realise that this is described for the piano section only.
Funny my pdf of the version "1.x" of the NS2 manual does not describe the latch function, either, but version 1.7 does.
It "latches" the section that you engaged when you press a pedal. So you can, let's say sustain a synth pad, and play the piano on top without triggering the synth. See http://www.norduserforum.com/post86730.html

When I bought my Stage 2, it was after 20 years of not buying anything....I still have my old Roland D50 and Yamaha TX802, and my computer was an Atari....So, you could imagine how scared I was....and I can imagine why you feel so overwhelmed....But the Stage serie is very easy to understand as soon as you catch up the fact that you have 2 layers, A and B, named Slot A and B, one on top of the other. Then, each layer, each slot had 3 main engines, Piano, Organ and Synth...So at the end, six different sounds....Which is kind of crazy if you think about it, very powerful....So, don't panic, the manual is very good as well, so use it, just read it now and then, when you will have your Stage 3, you will know it already....

Aren't there increased sample sizes for the stage 3? That would explain the new file as it therefore can only work with the stage 3. No problem using stage 2 samples with a stage 3 instrument.
It would be a problem if they allowed samples too big for stage 2 to be used. Makes perfect sense to me.
