HOW do you send a summed mix? If you are running stereo stage monitors, how do you get a mono signal to the FOH?
Hi dwtomsun,

Actually, it is not a summed mix. I just send the mono left output. Seems to work fine if FOH is not stereo.

Cheers

If you are sending the left mono to the house, how are you monitoring yourself in stereo? I guess I still don't get how you are achieving both things simultaneously...or did I misunderstand you?

Stereo output from mixer to two DI boxes. Left DI out to QSC K10 #1 and FOH. Right DI box out to K10 #2 only.

I play Stereo. But there is no crises to me playing in mono.
One guy suggested me to use the "Left"-output (not stereo merged) for organ (w leslie-sim) in mono. You will hear the leslie effect more distinctly then. There are supprisingly many records where the organ is in mono.

For personal studio work I tend to use the Electro 4D in stereo. However, in our band (heavy-ambient-psychedelic-prog) I just run mono to a small mixer (which runs to Motion Sound amps). I use one of the AUX sends on the mixer to send about half the Nord's signal to a Vox AC-15 tube amp for tone. I mainly use B3 and Rhodes sounds, so I like the added tube overdrive I get with the Vox. I used to run all my keys in stereo to a mixer and give stereo outs to FOH, it just never seemed to make much difference, even with a decent sound man. Plus, I found that when you're competing with a Gibson Les Paul through a 200 watt full-stack (8-12s), mono tends to cut through a little better.

I also don't trust the house sound men with two channels for my keyboards.

I prefer stereo and I prefer soundtechs that work in stereo :-)

Not always possible but after spending all kinds of money on my rig I want it sounding the best it possibly can out front. Have run into the occasional sympathetic FOH tech who are keyboard players instead of guitar players, that always helps :-)

Onstage I have a set of Yamaha 400i on order, to go with my shiny new Nord Piano 2, along with my Mac Mini running all my VSTs.

Stereo. The all set, stage 2, Roland D50, NL2X and the expanders goes to a TASCAM 8 stereo channels with two stereo outputs. A stereo output go to the FOH via the snake and the other output goes to two Yorkville PS-10P powered speakers for my monitoring....is was the best to get the sound I have at home with my two Genelec monitors....

For me Stereo! I give always 2 channell left and right to the PA service man.

The Very question is:

ok, you give left and right because you are sure that is the better way to listen your Nord Sound....but if the PA guys set your 2 channel with a centre PAN or with the 2 PAN all to the left or all to the Right It' s the identically condition of Mono send!

Unfortunately it' s all in the hands of this PA guys!

Sometimes I meet very expert PA guys but...sometimes!

 ;-)
