Stage Classic vs NS2 ?? (Help please)
Re: Stage Classic vs NS2 ?? (Help please)
Hi,
i am not sure why they catagorised the Wurlitzer as 'Elec. Piano 2' ?? Whats the point in that ?? Just keep it as it was having its own dedicated slot. And the same for the Electric Grand which again is nothing like a Grand Piano !! Its very easy to keyboard sample jump on a gig when everything is in its own catagory (like it is on the Stage Classic). And on gigs, i don't think many people would need to jump to a Harpsichord that quickly because its not really an intrument that you would use on and off every (say) 8/16 x bars (like you would with a Piano or Rhodes). So again, i don't know why they did not continue to keep the Harpsichords in the Clavinet slot ??

How much SAMPLE MEMORY does the NS2 have and is the amount generally considered large enough ??

It has 380MB for synth (nsmp) samples (and the piano is 500MB). The synth sample memory is not full when coming from factory, so you can easily add more sounds.
Presumably "enough" would the the space to load each XL piano there is (for the npo files, somebody might know how large this would be) and for the synth all the samples at the Nord site, x2 so you have space for your own sample . But that would last until they offer newer samples... So there is not such thing as "too much memory"
This document might be useful (NS EX vs NS2)

My opinion is that we will see samples get progressively bigger until there is a real problem with the EX users and the latest possibilities. ie:- a massive set of rhodes samples.
I will then say "I love my EX and I really don't want a 2EX, but if I want the new Clavs, the new Wurlies, the new Rhodes, which are all amazing as well as that Grand I like, I've got to".
The Stage Classic is obsolete and the EX is starting to struggle with the new samples. I figure that the next lot will blow the EX into the water and Nord will gain a load more sales.
I'm quite keen on upgrading, but the 2 isn't there yet and I'm waiting to see what their next move is. Which I think will be a big suite of Npno sounds which are XXXXXL

Stu,
Well i am kind of wondering if there is a NS2 EX in the pipeline ?? Its seems the most logical progression. i did mention this possibility before but site members agreed it was all speculation.

Mr G,
Sorry for not being more specific. i wanted to know about the SYNTH SECTION Memory size and how it copes with programs. What i mean is, on the Stage Classic there is no problem whatsoever with the Synth Section Memory as its copes more than fine. But is it the same on the NS2 because you have (i assume) bigger Synth Samples ??
Ta,
Paul

No problem with the synth memory section - you dont need it to use the synth itself, it is only if you want to load samples from Clavia's site, and there seems to be plenty of room. SInce the samples only have one velocity level, they are quite small....

Oh, I see. 300 synth patches. I will confess that I have been lazy and store each synth patch in a new program slot.
Re: Stage Classic vs NS2 ?? (Help please)
Well thats what i was leading towards asking. Do all the Orchestral type samples work on the NS2 (like Orch Strings & Brass) and if so i would guess that these are very large files ?? i mean obviously way bigger than the Synth patches on the Stage Classic ??sakari wrote:No problem with the synth memory section - you dont need it to use the synth itself, it is only if you want to load samples from Clavia's site, and there seems to be plenty of room. Or does these types of Samples not use the Synth Section Memory (and so use a different source) ??
