But that's where the whole felt piano thing became hip anyway
For those who don't get it, maybe that trend passed you by (not a criticism)

It certainly passed me by. Can you link any YouTube examples of this kind of sound being used?

I think it’s a case of slightly different ‘scenes’ or ‘cliques’. I’m not a pro composer by any means but I’m interested in production which pulls me more towards software than hardware sometimes.
So all the companies that do the massive sample libraries for computers, they all have a ‘felt piano’ and people in to that way of working have been going on about them for a few years. Hence a ‘trend’.
Here’s Christian Henson from Spitfire (also a working composer) talking about it as a trend
But as always, fashions are fashions, if it doesn’t excite your ears or inspire you then you haven’t missed anything!

Didn't even know that Felt Piano was a thing. I guess I am out of the loop.

I think it's a "composer" thing. If you're more of a "performer/player" (not unusual for Nord owners) then yup maybe you missed the invite!

I'm a big fan of a good humblebrag. My google search came back with that link at the top too.

Christian's channel's well worth following if you're interested. He's a television and film composer who also setup Spitfire Audio. They are one of the bigger sample library companies. They do lots of amazing free libraries in their LABS series which are worth checking out. Christian also runs a site called Pianobook which is an attempt to curate the work of non-professional samplists. I've used Nord's Sample Editor 4 to convert some of the stuff for my Piano 5. HIs Fender Rhodes Electric Celeste sounds particularly nice.
Guy Michelmore is also worth watching. He runs a company called Thinkspace who do some excellent short courses on media composition, as well as full postgraduate degrees. It's where I've learned what little I do know about composition including the "felt piano thing"

Oh hold on, I didn't know what a humblebrag was so I Googled it
"an ostensibly modest or self-deprecating statement whose actual purpose is to draw attention to something of which one is proud."
Are you suggesting that's what I'm doing?

Of course not! Sorry if it came across like that. I'm sure you've just been too busy composing to post your compositions on our Your Music forum.

I’ve made it clear I’m not a composer, just interested. I don’t need to post anything anywhere to satisfy you or anyone. I hope I’ve posted some links that others will find interesting. I’m sorry you feel the need to be so hostile, particularly with all that’s going on in the world.
