As to the Stage Killer, I don't see that at all. I mean you could get pianos, organs, clavinets etc from this with samples but there would be no way to get release samples, sympathetic resonance, full drawbar control, percussion, etc...let alone many of the fx from the Stage. But if synths are the main interest and the other sounds are secondary, maybe. Since it has 4 layers and velocity is a morph I imagine it could be possible to make a 4-way crossfade and have some really expressive instruments.

Also 1GB is pretty great IMO, considering it's more like 2 with Nord's compression routine. Most workstations don't have much more (if that.) Only exceptions I can think of are the Kronos and the Prophet X. Any others with over 2GB of sample storage?

Well, I bit the bullet and pre-ordered mine already. The rumor is a March shipping time frame.

Nord compares the wave 2 vs. A1 .
Wave = enhanced A1 = End of the Leads ?
4 parts, but 2 outputs, pity.

It looks indeed like a cross between a Nord Lead A1 and Nord Wave. Some very cool features have been removed (formant filter, osc modulation, second LFO, etc...), other things are new. Like Group Mode, new reverb types, keybed with aftertouch (and not only vibrato like on the Nord Wave), Ensemble effect (from the A1), more user memory (1GB), etc...

I'm sure it will be very easy and direct to use, taylored for live playing.

They left out the ability for that single LFO to trigger by envelope just like on the Nord Stage 3. For f.... sake we are close to what you would expect from a Rompler synth engine.

This means that S/H (sample & hold) will only be useful for making space blips, whereas an LFO that can be triggered by envelope is much more useful. Nord Lead A1 got it.

I've been a faithful fan of Nords for many years (got all Nords except G2) but with all this nerf i think that Nord Stage 3 was my last Nord.

I am NOT going to buy a Nord Wave 2 just because it got 1 NEW thing, programable arpeggio, while leaving out essential stuff.

Yeah i'm furious, been wanting a Nord Wave 2 ever since i got my Nord Wave 1 and every new product since then have been a nerf in the synth section.

What I'm really disappointed at is the choice of keybed and format factor.

They will probably not release a desktop or rack version. Which is really disappointing as all major synth companies release them.

And the gigantic weight and size that comes with a 61 keyboard with weighted action. Which is completely unnecessary for a synthesizer.

What it feels like is that they forgot to make synths for synth players and instead are marketing towards organ and piano players.

Which is fine, I get that. Their stage is a success. But I will probably cease buying nords. I love their sound. But they forgot about us.

I could go on and on about recent synth releases with 49 keys, module and rack versions, and no weighted action.

Simply, disappointing

Why do people keep saying it's a weighted action?

cambe - 8,7 kg - gigantic? - 61 keys with hammond action bad ? - Well I like a keyboard that I can place on a normal X keyboard stand (Nord Leads are to short) , and that do not move around while I am playing... But different people - different views...
