This is pretty amazing to see how much significant work is done on this already! Kudos to ALL who are helping to make this happen. Parsing out assignments to volunteer forum members for the purpose of generating recorded .mp3 files sounds like a workable idea. Forty people handling twenty-five each can cover 1000 samples. Perhaps wait for some of this early dust to settle before attempting that? Or?

Bless, Pablo

Good to hear Pablo... Irie brutha!

I will be adding editing capabilities for admin users very soon. This will include, renaming patches, Adding category, Description, Editing patch type (probably not needed), Adding Tags (descriptive keywords) , adding parentId (I will explain)
(I think) We need to get a list of 'trusted' users willing to Describe, Categorize and 'Tag' the patches, (yes there's 1000+), before we look at making new mp3s.

The filter/search stuff on patches should work perfectly, but theres no tags to search yet. And only 2% have an appropriate category (i just aded a few manually). Most categories will be simple to set by looking at the patch name and listening to the mp3.

So who's up for helping? Please nominate yourself by sending Johannes or me a PM. I'll check with Johannes on suitability before asigning admin roles, no offense to anyone who doesnt get admin role, but I don't want 1 rogue user messing the live data ;)

And please, any developer who knows React.js (or wants to learn) wants to help with dev, please PM me!

It's worth the effort, this will be the best library of sounds, for the best keyboards in the world.... :yourock:

If that is going to happen, maybe it's an good idea to make samples based on a basic midi file. So that all samples are played with the same melody for that type of sample?
That saves a lot of time I guess...

I can also be a backup for this tedius work. Are there any MIDI files per soundtype you want to play so we have the same sound phrase to compare ?

Hey Guys (and Girls),

I have published some updates now. Admin users can now update Name, Description, Tags (add/remove) , Category, Type.
Please feel free to make changes to the data, particularly with setting categories, A lot of these patches can be categorised simply by checking the name of the patch.

If the patch has an MP3, it might be worth adding Tags, Description, Category to describe what you hear in te Mp3.
You can easily see the patches with MP3s by clicking on the MP3 header and sorting the data.

I will work on a way to upload mp3s for existing patches.
Cheers,
Steve

Good news admin-users!

I have now added to functionality to add an Mp3 if the patch does not already have one. Its a drag and drop uploader.
After you have selected your file, click 'Upload this file' and wait for the transfer to complete.
The mp3 player will appear once upload is complete, and then you can close the window, or continue to edit the other fields (Category, Description, Tags, etc)
I have not worked on a way to delete existing MP3s, not sure if we actually need that.

This means you can now categorize, add tags, describe and add MP3s.

More features to follow soon

Hi guys,

just started categorizing and tagging patches, beginning with all those that have “brass” in their names. I noticed that a lot may fit into several categories like Brass,Synth, Acoustic and others, I therefore chose the most obvious one as the category (my personal guess) and added the other possible ones into the tags. Also added tags like original instrument manufacturer name of the sample, layer, split, stack and others. What do you think of this methodology?

Regards Georg
