I had that happen last night - turned all of the knobs, tried different patches, restarted a few times, started panicing that I'd broken my Stage. Turns out that my swell pedal was sitting at minimum... At least it was an easy fix for me.

That was also my first thought when I read @lbkeys question. Sounds an awful lot like the volume pedal was set at minimum Of course, if there isn't any pedal attached, then it could be something else (like an incorrectly plugged in sustain pedal or something -- or of course a weird bug).
