This is really kind of mind-blowing. Game-changer after it's 100%.

I tried entering numeric values for parameters. Although I am able to get the cursor into the field, it doesn't seem to like having number typed into it... Mouse operation of knobs is cute, but entering numbers would be good for precision.

Hopefully this can do something meaningful for NL2X and Wave...

@pablo:
I just tried editing the values and see your point. 1st, the entry field is a bit too small (might be fixed in a future version of Ctrlr). But most importantly, you can only enter numerical values and they need to be in the standard MIDI format 0-127. This collides with the indication which I choose to be more compatible with the values displayed on the Nord itself (e.g., db values for volume, 0-10 for many parameters, seconds for EGs, Hertz,...). I don't see a way around this for the moment, but maybe you got an idea.

In general, it can be helpful I agree, but the restriction to the CC MIDI implementation prevents further improvement in particular of {both panels, used samples&Pianos, Name of Patch, the few non-CC sending elements}, so 100% will be difficult unless the Sysex Specs are released one day (and some serious programmers have some free time ;-) )

As for the NL2x, there exists already a Panel: http://ctrlr.org/page.php?p=ddb

Cheers & merry xmas!

Hmm, this is an interesting thread. I've been figuring out how to list patches on the Wave (especially the ones with samples, including which samples they use) and thought about creating a controller for the Wave, so I can more easily control it from a sequencer. I was looking at JUCE, but using Ctrlr might be a better idea (Ctrlr is written in JUCE though). I know custom extensions to Ctrlr can be created; for example, if would be much nicer to enter the vibrato rate as 5.60 Hz instead of a MIDI CC value.

The synth section on NS2 and Wave seem nearly identical, so a program that can list which programs use which samples (and which samples are unused atm) on the Wave should work with only minor modification on the NS2 I think.

I'm thinking about selling my Wave and Roland Fantom G6 to get a NS2 SW73, but that's an entirely different matter

Hi Johannes,

I wish you the best for this new year und für deine Studium, viel Erfolg !
I was very busy and hadn't the time to play with my NS2, the same with my guitars.
Yesterday I downloaded your patch editor and Ctrl, but I couldn't link the editor and the NS2.
I read carefully your recommandations and asked me about the midi interface : should I buy an USB-midi interface to link the NS2 to my computer ?
Is the USB-computer connection not enough to drive the editor ?
Thank you very much for the whole work you have done for us.

Cheers.

Fred.

This is what I'd really like to have for NS2:

A good editor for synth / sample player. Everything else is quite easy to do with NS2 itself. Because of NS2 synths "over-economical" design (just few knobs and three digits screen), I think quite many of us use very little of its real potentiality. For example, I have Arturia Origin as my main synth which has lot of knobs and a large color screen and very intuitive GUI. When I am so used to it, NS2 synth just feels not practical and to be honest, I barely use it at all. On the other hand, I know there's so much you can take out of it, if you just give it some time. What I am saying here is that with a good Synth programmer software this might be solved. To be very effective, this programmer would need a change to import samples. (Ok, ok, at the moment this can be done with other program: nord sound manager). To sum it, what I'd like to have is a complete solution for using samples and all these synth features in an effective and intuitive package. We have quite expensive product; maybe we have right to demand it.

... Or perhaps I am just lazy here.

I have a Nord Stage EX and Have been messing around with the ctrlr software/panel for the Stage "Classic" EX and after a lot of poking around, I have got it to send data set to my NORD [a very cool panel and interface btw] (It was sending to panel B so I didn't see it at first) Thanks to all in creating the ctrlr software and the NORD panel!

I have been trying to get the PROGRAM manager to accept download sysex data using both the GET PROGRAMS drop down menu and by dumping from the NORD 'DUMP PROGRAM' . All the connections work as I have verified this by running MIDI OX to monitor dumps an midid flow and SO my question is.. HAS the CODE for the method for getting programs been added? ie. does it work and I deleted it somehow?

Hi MorganMusic and welcome to the forums!

Glad you like it! As for the dumps, what exactly is your question? WIthin the Patch editor, Sysex dumps (send or receive) does not work (and most likely will never do), since the Sysex Specs are not open. The way it works is rather with MIDI cc dumps which you have to manually launch from your Stage which simply transfer all the current parameter values of all cc's.
Cheers

Yes I gather that from something I read today - It all seems to be working now. Just wondering how I can save the panel as a Synth Patch now? Do I do this from the modulators list? ie EXPORT LIST. Thanks again for all your great work for the Stage EX!
