I just startet my first attempt of creating a patch for Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Maybe it's helpful. (The Mod Wheel increases the volume of the pad sound.)
I am a fairly new owner of the NS3 and came across your awesome Shine On You Crazy Diamond work on the forum. I having difficulty getting it set up correctly and wondered if you could help.

I downloaded the sample and program file into NS3. However, when I loaded the program file (.nsf) into Sound Manager the file showed three missing programs. Panel A was missing the EP8 large, and unknown file for the other panel A sound. In Panel B it said it was missing another EP. I relinked my larger EP8 sample in Panel A and it auto-filled in Orchestral Strings for the unknown Panel A sound and put the Royal Grand for the missing EP sound. Nowhere in the patch did is show the sample titled Shine that I loaded.

Could you share with me what exactly should be loaded into which Panels? Also, should the sample that you created automatically link to the program?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Bill Whittaker
Hi Bill,

While waiting for ouzo2k to reply, you may just check which of the NS3 synths is set up to use samples (and missing that one) then relink it manually yourself (on NS3 or using Nord Sound Manager).

Thanks for your suggestion. I think I tried this, but I am not sure that the missing items that the Sound Manager identified were correct to begin with. It seemed odd that the Shine On program was missing two ep samples, as it doesn’t make sense for the patch. I had those same samples loaded, but just a different size. Am I correct to assume that the Nord must be looking for certain samples/synths loaded in particular banks or slots?

I really I guess need to know what samples/programs make up the patch.

Does anyone have a working version of this they could open in Sound Manger and help to identify what is in the program?

Thanks,
Bill

Since it was not saved as a Bundle it makes sense that the EPs where missing; both Piano and Synth samples are referenced by name on your NS3 (so if the .nsmp you loaded had a different name in the NS3 Program, when it was saved, it won't be found and you have to relink it manually)

Thanks for clarifying. So the fact that EP has a different size than the one in the program would be viewed as having a different name, correct? What is still unclear is why it would identify any electric piano as being missing from this particular patch. I mean, the sound doesn’t need an EP. Also when I reminded the first EP to the larger version it put a grand where it said if was missing another EP. Also, the sample that was given in the separate file is not listed anywhere in the program by the Sound Manager.

Hello,

I'm having the same problem. I'm unable to play the sound since it doesn't point out to the right samples or Synth sounds. Could someone help?

Welcome to the Forum! Regarding the EPs noted above, the Nord Sound Manager will list sounds/samples that are missing even if they aren't actually used in the program. If you don't have the EPs listed, you can download it from the Nord site or simply point to another just to get rid of the error. For the sample, check which of two synth panels is set up to use a sample, and then relink it to the new NSMP3 sample you loaded either using your NS3 or using the Nord Sound Manager. Check the synth levels - if they are morphed to the control pedal and you're not using one, the level will be at zero.

When you start working with samples and want to start saving new ones, here are a few tips for Sound Manager:
- View your current samples in "organize" mode to show open memory locations.
- Sort samples from largest to smallest and delete the ones you don't need starting with the largest so you're freeing up the most space without losing as many samples.
- Save all new samples to memory locations 250 and above so you always know which ones you loaded versus which ones came with your Stage 3.

Below is a link to access over 70 programs I have put together for the Stage 3 that might be of help to you in the future. Take care.

Fairly new here:
This file called Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pad.nsmp

Would that work on Nord Electro 6d ?

Yes, it would. Load it as a normal sample file with Nord Sound Manager. With your electro 6 you could also use the nsmp3 file which was some posts above.

Welcome to this wonderful forum. Cheers from Germany
