The complexity of the new software comes in the number of things it can do that it may not have been designed for. The thousands of combinations of features you can put together make it almost limitless in how bugs may pop up and with their frequency early on in a release cycle. Also, anyone who purchased pre-release, I'm not sure what you would expect. It will be bumpy for a short while but they seem to be making it better.
I bought a Montage when they first came out a year or so ago. It was buggy as heck in a very destructive way. It still has multiple issues that cause pages to corrupt and become flakey, ever after that period of time.
In the end, both machines will be worth the hassle.

The "troll" stands corrected on v1.24 being a "nothing burger" ... still holding out hope that this won't be permanent and most, if not all, B3 parameters from the NE5 get added to the NS3. Unfortunately, I'm not a software or hardware engineer and have no idea of the NS3 limitationsJonnie Cache wrote:Haven’t upgraded yet, thankfully. I’m not sure I entirely understand. Are you NOT able to turn on multiple engines at least? So that even if you can’t control it on the panel level, is there no way to enable multiple engines simultaneously?MrTobbe wrote:Unfortunately this is no longer true. You can now (with v1.24) have either Organ, Piano OR Synth, but no longer the whole Panel B with splits and layers.DanielD71 wrote:From Clavia:
Dual KB mode now has options for addressing either all of Panel B, or only one of its sections. This is done by keeping Dual KB pressed down and selecting the appropriate setting (Panel, Organ, Piano or Synth) using the dial.
So you can have all engine or select only one.
I have 1.24 loaded in my Stage 3 sw73 and can confirm that the Panel choice is gone, as stated in the update history:
I've been in contact with Nord Support and they also confirm that they have chosen to remove the "Panel" option for Dual KB - and they've done so to keep the functionality of the internal keyboard and controls intact, even when Dual KB is engaged, and that "the differences that existed between Panel and "Engine" mode could be perceived as non-intuitive."...Important: The "Panel" option for Dual KB has been removed. Any Programs stored in Panel mode will after the update be set to "Organ".
Personally I think it's a step in the wrong direction - I'm was hoping for more flexible MIDI implementation, not less....
I hope that enough users raise their voices, by sending an E-mail directly to Nord support directly so that the Nord team reconsider, and bring back Dual KB Panel mode ASAP.
And for those who are dependent on Dual KB Panel mode - DO not upgrade to 1.24, stay on v1.22 instead.
That could be a big problem for me as well. I don’t care if they call it Panel control or not as long as I can engage multiple engines. Maybe there are other technical reasons for disabling panel for External keyboard?

For the quoted issue on Dual KB, please look at the other thread addressing this.Al_DeKlein wrote: The "troll" stands corrected on v1.24 being a "nothing burger" ... still holding out hope that this won't be permanent and most, if not all, B3 parameters from the NE5 get added to the NS3. It's true that Nord changed the behaviour, but there are other options that may allow you to achieve the same as you could before. So in the interest of not creating more confusion, I'd kindly suggest we try to keep that particular discussion in the other thread
