Hmm, I think we are maximizing the anticipated delight for which are likely going to be modest samples of electric pianos, that most of us will download, try out, and then, uh, remove.

The air is out of the balloon. This isn't a Big Year at NAMM...for we Nordies, anyway. I'll wait for the "normal" Royal Grand.

Hmmm - not sure about that. Namm is over, and still no Gospel Collection. I would expect Roland could indeed if they chose to, enforce their rights to their intellectual property. They may already looking at how many in the gospel community are purchasing Keyscape just for the very good MKS-20 samples - what may have stopped them from acting there is Eric Persing was the lead designer on the original instrument and others like the JD-800.

Well the Gospel Classics were never officially announced, there was a news hidden in the press page (not on the homepage) that was reposted by third parties (including here) and immediately taken down.

To me, that looks like the page was mistakenly put online before its time. I don't think it was a teaser or some marketing trick, it looks like a plain mistake.

So I guess we'll just have to wait for official news from the website, no point in giving anything for granted

The Steinway Nº1 it's beautiful...as the Bambino, lots of character. The Royal Grand is great too. Great expectations for the gospel classics

I'd say Nord putting up a press release on their own website counts as officially announced. Since Nord put a date on the press release, one can only assume some issue has arisen in the interim.

I was also happy with their MKS20 announcement but why bother suggesting things, I've just contacted Nord and Steffan always replies quickly, this was his answer:

Clarification regarding Nord sound releases at NAMM 2017:

The previously announced Gospel Classics Collection and the Ondre J Gospel Bank has been postponed until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience and will keep you posted regarding a new release date.

The Steinway No.1 will be available for download as announced at nordkeyboards.com.

Best regards,

It seems we will have to wait a little longer.

Regards, KF.

"Until further notice" usually means never. I doubt we ever see them. Moving on...

I don't really know what kind of sounds the Gospel Bank should be, but if the were Synth-Pianos in .npno-format, I think there is a chance they will be available very soon because they just brought out OS updates on the Stage, Electro, Piano and the Sound Manager because of some errors with Synth Pianos ;-)

Indeed, this sounds a likely scenario. As the Gospel Pianos include MKS-20, MK-80, JD-800 then some of the OS updates would point in that direction.

Updates include:
-Fixed bug where Long/Soft Release would not work as expected with Synth Pianos
-Increased the bank size for each Piano category from 9 to 15
-Move Wurlitzer sounds from the E.Piano 2 to the E.Piano 1 bank, making the E.Piano 2 bank a dedicated Synth Piano bank

My philosophy is this: We have a unique and fantastic board that is a pleasure to play. If we get new stuff then great. If we don't then it's still as good as ever.
