I think I saw a tutorial about it.
You can easily rearrange your programs either at the piano (using the "organize" button/function) or with the computer and the Nord Sound Manager software.

I’ve also just started to put my own and my favorite factory programs into the first Bank.

Yes this is quite easy with Nord Sound Manager, where you can move them around as you like. Use the “Organize” view which also shows you free slots available in case you need them to temporary place programs when re-arranging them.

I think you're looking for a way to directly jump between programs? If it's 5 programs or less, consider using the "Live" feature. I frequently use it to have some ready-to-go presets.
If your needs are more extensive, there are three ways to organize programs on the NP5 as far as I know:
(1) use something external to issue midi PC commands, a NS3 in my case, it could be something else for you.
(2) use the "organize" function to move and rename to a more reasonable logical order
(3) use one of the Nord-provided categories to label your personal favorites (e.g. "lead") and display by category vs address.

Yes exactly! Jump between programs.

The second and third idea will do it. Right now it’s overwhelming tho to check out all these Programs. While I know that I mostly need a piano sound, a Rhodes / e piano sounds and potentially warm synth lead sounds, there’s quite some cool programs that can make a boring solo gig a little more fun :-).

I also figured out that all the sounds from the piano section have one program slot each (like A11) where they’re not edited. So from these slots I could also switch to preset sounds like the white grand just by selecting it in the piano section.
When looking at the display I was always confused that when I am in program A11 and I select a Rhodes sound from the piano section, that after selecting it it still says A11.. confusing if you are a nord newbie hehe

For a tribute band I'm in I have a fairly short list of performed tunes and the songs are always performed to sound very similar to original artist's performance. In this situation I use the song's names for the Program names and I organize them in alphabetical order. I can easily find the right Program for any song just by dialing up the song's name regardless of the selection or order of songs in a given show's setlist.

'Program' is the Nord term for what is often called a 'preset'. A program consists of one or multiple assembled samples plus some effects shaping the sound. So I don't consider it a good idea to just switch a piano sample within an program on the fly - you'd need to adapt volume, EQ, compression, reverb plus the effects as well in order to get a new sound. Then the initial program would be totally gone. I don't think that's what you want.

Maybe you got confused because there is a piano sample called 'White Grand' and a program with the same name. But that's absolutely not the same. It's just a sound based on that very sample.

If ever you need a new sound on the fly, just create one from scratch in a free program slot. You'll be able to do that in a minute within some weeks.

I don't own a NP5 but I'm wondering about what you are saying about 'sounds .. not (being) edited' in some programs. They are more or less customized, but probably none of them isn't edited in one or another way.

+1 and adding the usual recommendation @Corea: read the NP5 manual carefully and possibly try what you read on your NP5 immediately, in this way in very little time (hours) you will wipe all your confusion away and get full control of your instrument :)

That’s a GREAT idea. I’ll need programs in a similar situation for originals, and I’ll have to split the keyboard .. Will definitely Name them like the songs name!

You’re right, the way I use terms is confusing or wrong.
I meant that the samples from the piano section (which includes piano/upright/e piano.. all those the piano engine has to offer) all have a slot in the programs.

In the nord sound manager, when I click on the Baby upright sample, it shows me a list of programs that uses the baby upright. The program on top of that list uses that baby upright sample and nothing else, is called ‚baby upright‘, no effect, nothing. That’s what I meant by not edited. But I see how that brought up confusion since none of the programs is ‚edited‘ as long as I don’t change the sample that I am using in the piano engine on the left, WHILE having a certain program selected.

I threw down some samples I don’t find so good so I have space for the new Perl Upright (190 mb..) and I don’t believe I’ll need the programs that contained the samples I threw off the NP5. I’ll see.. can always factory reset.

One question tho: when I click on the programs that are colored in yellow after throwing off a sample, and I substitute them for the new sound i added that is similar, will the new sound be EQ‘d in the same way or do I have to do that manually afterwards with the same EQ Settings that we’re used before for the sample?
