Stormbringer wrote:Hello everyone!
I just registered but I read the Forum with interest for a long time.
I mainly play Rock '70 and I play in a Deep Purple tribute.
I decided to ask for your advice because for years I have had great satisfaction with a nord stage 2.

I had a good purchase proposal and, although I had no intention of selling it, I was very intrigued by the new nord stage 3 ...
However, I read that many users are not completely satisfied, and that the nord stage 3 still has problems. I am concerned that the organs are not as aggressive as in the nord stage 2 ... I wanted a sincere judgment from those of you who made this purchase, because I would not make a mistake.
Some complain of mechanical or display problems. I'm interested in the nord stage 3 compact
Thank you!!!

P.S: sorry for my English :)
Hi Stormbringer, and welcome to the forums.

As it says in the first post here: "This thread is for documenting bugs with the intent of getting them reported in a way that can be reproduced by Clavia."

Hence, you will have more success discussing this in a separate thread on the forums rather than here in this thread.

You may also search the existing threads here and on the corresponding facebook group for the NS3; there are several very similar questions to yours. Remember to take into account that many people play the NS3 and are very happy with it (myself included) but may not post about it -- which may result in a seemingly higher inclination of people having challenges sharing their dissatisfaction.

For me it seems that many people like the instrument, and a few have some issues they would have liked to see done differently. So it's more a matter of personal preferences.

There is however no way we can tell which group you could belong to -- so the best advice I can give is to go test the instrument somewhere and see whether you like it or not. Complaints about mechanical or display issues do not appear to be predominant, however, so that should not be a reason for not buying the NS3.

Thank you baekgaard!
I apologize if I have the wrong section of the forum!
My main concern is the saturation and aggressiveness of the organs, which in my musical genre is fundamental. I have heard negative reviews about it.
Anyway I will open a discussion as you advised me :)
Thanks for your helpful reply

The following was submitted via the Nord website. I was able to re-create this issue on my NS3-HA88 but not on my NS3C. It would be helpful if someone could try re-creating on a Compact or HP76.

When a note is struck twice in succession on an NS3-HA88, the second note appears to be played at full velocity regardless of how hard it is struck. This applies to both the piano and synth sections.

I was able to re-create by playing C#4 using the White Piano XL or a sine wave in the synth section with Velocity set to 3.

Here is a link to a YouTube video that shows the problem at the 5:10 mark.
The person doing the review is a bit dramatic with an apparent axe to grind with Nord, but it is a good representation of the issue.

Maybe it has to do with the 3 sensor mechanism (e.g. the 2nd hit happens before the first contact is fully open or something like that?).
Given the way that this behaviour is triggered, I wonder if it is it a problem that kb players encounter often.

I quickly received a reply from Pablo and it truly is an issue no-one had identified in the 2-years-plus since the NS3-88 has been released. Other than the exercise of trying to recreate the issue, I've never noticed it. I can make it happen about once in every 10-20 tries, but during normal use, I never attempt to repeat the same note that quickly (like a grace note using the same key).

In any case, it seems like it's a software issue that will likely be addressed after the holidays and NAMM, which shouldn't be a problem since the only one to complain about it said he was returning the NS3.

On a separate note, I believe the Stage has a two-sensor keybed and the Piano and Grand have the triple-sensor keybeds.

Hey. Is there something that I can do about this clicking sound that the synth makes when I play lots of notes at the same time? It's not the envelope being too harsh, shouldn't be since the attack and release are both at least 10ms. Is this just a bonus feature?

I had a look in the spectrogram mode in audacity and while you can see some harmonics in the spectrogram where the noise happens when going into wave view I can't see anything odd (like a saturated or truncated wave). A bit of a mystery.

Has anybody experienced this kind of problem (shown above) or is there something wrong with my unit?
