Re: Roland D-50 Samples, Famous sounds
Hello D50Lover,
It sounds like you have a great kit.
I'd love to see pics.
Taking that first step into sampling can seem like a big one, but the more you do, the easier it becomes.
Creating and sharing your samples is a very rewarding experience,
at least for an old guy that gets fewer and fewer gigs as the years press on
There are quite a few knowledgeable forum members here, and all are willing to share of their talents.
Nord has quite a few DX-7 samples available on their website:
http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?t ... slib=Synth
These include most of the famous tine pianos.
I sold my last DX (a DX-5) last year. My DX sounds are now covered only by the PLG150-DX board in my Yamaha Motif Rack, but fortunately it takes vintage DX-7 programs directly, so I have a large program library to draw from.
Cheers, Hanon

Hanon, I'm a first time NE3 user and just wanted to say thanks for your samples! I actually started looking at d-50's due to these. They are a blast to play!

welcome to the forums!
Yes, I quite agree.
The D-50 was just an awesome piece of kit.
It was really a game changer back in the day.
Almost on par with how the Yamaha DX-7 changed things in '83
The D-50 really excels when coupled with a PG-1000 programmer.
The D-50 was such a popular synth, that Roland produced the D-50 card for the V-synth
I've played one of these too, and it's a faithful reproduction of the D-50.
I'm glad you enjoyed the samples.
Cheers, Hanon

Re: Roland D-50 Samples, Famous sounds
Hello Hanon,
Thanks for your D-50 sample-collection !
I once owned a D-5 and played a D-20 some times, but that's as far as I got with the D-series !!
I sold the D-5 to a friend, but his cats have spoiled the instrument !!
So finally, after 25 years, I'm able to play the D-50 sounds on my Stage 2 !!!
Thanks again, and for all Your input on this Lovely Forum.
Greetings,
Keys Wizard

I'm glad that you have found my D-50 samples useful.
The feline species has had a long standing vendetta against any object that is keyboard related.
Scholars theorize that cats have a genetic memory of the traumas induced by the
medieval Katzenklavier.
And have been trying to avenge their insult ever since.
Cheers, Hanon

Re: Roland D-50 Samples, Famous sounds
Yeah Hanon, I think you're right but I have evidence that the phenomenon is mutating since I found that my cat seems to have a grudge against my Carlsbro stereo amp and particularly its fluffy coating...

Cats are very unforgiving creatures.shark wrote:cat seems to have a grudge against my Carlsbro stereo amp and particularly its fluffy coating...
It's only a rumor that Carlsbro developed the first amplification system for the
Katzenklavier.
Evil cats!
Not really.
Cheers, hanon
btw,
Maybe it's just the Ted Nugent music that you been practicing, Cats really hate that.

Hello Hanon,
Thanks for your 'katzenklavier' picture.
Very remarkable instrument for cat-lovers !
Maybe someone has a nice sample of this rare keyboard, ha ha !!
I found a short film about this traumatic instrument :
Enjoy the show !
Musical Greetings from Keys Wizard

Re: Roland D-50 Samples, Famous sounds
Here's another D-50 sample.
This is C-82 SpaceyVox from the
Roland ROM PN-D50-01
I did two versions of this.
The original without reverb or chorus, and one with DX-7 FullTines mixed in.
Cheers, Hanon
