Completely agree !
Maybe we don't have any parameters to personalize the provided samples.
Maybe a physical modeled piano section is needed to compete on the current market.
I would see that as an outcome of the "one knob/button - one parameter" approach.

I have a drum plugin and i recorded each note with audacity, leaving the sound decay completly between notes. I have opened this wav in NSE and it could assign every sample of the single file. Now i have cool drums in my NS2 ^^, you can try this, and you'll get it in ten minutes =)
