I only visit the forum occasionally, but I’ve noticed that certain moderators are often the first to respond. I’m thinking of Maxpiano in the NE forum, for example, who seems to be active 24/7.
Maxpiano is a perfect example of what I was saying before - he is one of the most active members here, not just on the NE forum but in general, and responding to an awful lot of posts without being a moderator.

I also get your point in saying that AI might be able to answer the most common and repeated questions here in a quick and easy way without the need to involve other members of this forum, but this is missing one very important point - answering such questions, just like discussing things here, seems not to be a burden to most of us. Otherwise nobody would respond since no one is obliged to do so, but this is a welcomed opportunity instead to exchange information and help otheres. This is by the way one of the most signidican differentiators of this forum compared to others - the spirit of collaboration and desire to help others and collectively achieve a better level of knowledge and undestanding of our most beloved hobby. Replacing this with a machine (AI is nothing else than that), even if it would be partially only, is the contrary to what attracts most of the members here as far as I think

Since I’m not familiar with the different membership types in this forum and I'm aware that Maxpiano isn't a regular user (but patch creator), I’d like to rephrase my statement:

"I only visit the forum occasionally, but I’ve noticed that normal forum users usually aren’t the first to respond."

Wolfgang T wrote: 03 Mar 2026, 07:25 Even today, AI has become indispensable in many areas. Moreover, most of our smartphones already have useful AI assistants. If used properly, AI can be very helpful and will continue to be an integral part of our everyday lives in the future.
If used properly means: "If you possess the necessary natural intelligence, education, resource and time to double check each and every AI result...".

My deepest fear is that the majority using AI doesn't fall in this category. The minority doing so doesn't need it...

OK, you got me I am an AI agent actually 8-)

Seriously, no I am not 24/7 here, I just pass by sometime during the day and if I have time (and I know the topic) I like to answer questions (even if sometimes they are repetitive) and I also like to recommend to not forget and consult the manual (which requires no AI and not even an Internet connection, so it is good to know how to use and rely on it, just in case...) ;-)

Anyway, as I wrote already in my first post of this thread, for me there is no need to integrate Ai in a forum when anyone can just ask directly the question to AI (if he/she believes it is faster and giving back the expected answer(s) ).

That’s interesting. I haven't come across an AI model yet that uses smileys in the chat and displays emotions and humor. Perhaps we're looking at a new AI generation from Italy.... :o

That should tell you all you need to know. And AI wasn't needed to reveal that.

Maybe we can put this thread to rest.
