I’m having to either Sample the NS3… or my other keyboards… to replace many missing samples.
Add to this the fact that Sample Editor 4.2 ignores loop-points embedded in Wav files… and you have a recipe for many wasted hours. The looping tools in Sample Editor 4.2 are… less than ideal.
It never even crossed my mind that 3.0 samples wouldn’t load into the NS4 (nor could they be converted).
Had I known this, it definitely would have cooled my enthusiasm to upgrade.
Ultimately, I’ll assemble the sounds I need, but I’m sure glad I didn’t liquidate the NS3 to get the NS4.
What would have otherwise taken a couple days… will now take weeks.
Two big thumbs down regarding migration.
I am in the same situation, fortunately I still have my stage 3

Does anyone know if they're gonna complete the Nord sample library 4.0 ? I'm moving from Nord Stage 3 to 4, and now i'm missing a lot of samples that were in the NSL 3.0
Like, there are no more piano or E.P samples, almost no solo strings, less strings ensembles, etc...
I have a lot of concerts coming this summer and i'm not able to program things that i did with the Stage 3

that's not normal
Thanks !
Nord clearly didn't complete their compatible Sample Library before shipping the Stage 4. This is a serious problem for users who depend on their Nord keyboards in professional environments. And their response to my support case about this was that it would get better "in time" as if no one really depended on any of these samples. This is all just for fun, right?
As long as you still have a Stage 3 you can resample the missing voices into NSMP4 format using a stereo A/D converter like the MOTU M2 and the Nord Sample manager but that takes time, effort and some experience.
So please consider this issue carefully if you use your Nord gear professionally and make significant use of their sample libraries.

Not nice, not perfect, but works
Thanks, I had thought of that but couldn't bring myself to believe Nord would put us into this situation. Disappointing to say the least.
I did notice that there IS actually a Nord Sample Library 4 but it's not fully fleshed out. I'm hoping I can find the A1 Prophet sample under another, more generic name therein.
Hi, Stuart-
Can't you recreate the A1 Prophet sound using one of the synth layers in the NS4?
-dj
Possibly, but I've I realized I could resample the Prophet voice from my Stage 3 using my A/D MOTU M2 into the Sample editor I went that direction. So far I've had to resample 5 missing voices with more to go.
How can they release a new Product without the corresponding Sample library being fully updated? Do they think we're all just using these keyboards for fun and can wait months for the samples library updates? Why can't they incorporate an update function to include Nord samples into the Sound manager rather than just user created ones?
Mind boggling.

Anyone else feel like many of the 4.0 samples are less useful/usable?
Much prefer the 3.0 library.
That said, otherwise the NS4 sounds and plays great.
Coming from the Yamaha synth world I find Nord's cavalier attitude about timely support for their Sample libraries very confusing especially since you see their keyboards used everywhere in commercial application.
Their reply to my support case on this issue was basically to just wait until they got around to it. Wow, that speaks for itself.

This issue wouldn't exist if Nord updated NSM to convert all NSMP and NSMP3 samples, rather than restricting it to "user-created" samples. Nord could change the file name or file content as needed to not conflict with their own NSMP4 library. Perhaps it's a licensing issue, but a rollout with a partial library is definitely challenging Nord owners transitioning from prior models.

just for some clarity, it took more than 7 months from the time the NS3 was supported to get conversion of NSMP to NSMP3 in Sound Manager. And the NS3 sample library never got the missing original sample library samples. Support for the NS4 came in February so plan accordingly. We're 4 days out from 2 months since the last OS update. I was hoping to roll the NS4 into the live show next month, we shall see. Thankfully I still have the NS3, which I will be sampling my NS3 Sound Library sounds out of today. I'll upload them here on site as I get to them.

I’ve been resampling some Stage 3 library sounds as well using a stereo A/D converter directly into the Nord Sample application. Thankfully this works well once you’ve done a few and get the levels, number of samples and loop points correct. But you’ve got to have a Stage 3 to accomplish this.

I am also very frustrated over converting NS3 to NS4 and I'm having to resample sounds. The Nord sample software is the worst in its class I have ever used. Picking a loop point is like a "needle in a hay stack" because I can not move my loop point by one sample a time. When you drag the loop selector, it jumps several samples at a time making it impossible to get the best loop. I also already have perfect loops embedded in wave files, but the Nord software ignores them. You would think that with the price they are charging for this instrument, they would have better support.
Does anyone know if there is a 3rd party sampling software available that will export to the NS4?
Will Nord ever support velocity triggered multi-samples?
The Nord Sample Library 4.0 is completely missing the Piano section that the 3.0 library has. Will the missing 28 piano samples ever be available for the NS4?
If I'm interested in creating my own Pianos, Is there any software available that will export to the Nord Piano Library format?

No. They'll never allow deciphering their format as the piano samples are a big part of their value.
Carb88 wrote:Does anyone know if there is a 3rd party sampling software available that will export to the NS4?
No. But there is a
software respectively a script that allows to export split points from a WAV to the NSE.
Carb88 wrote:Will Nord ever support velocity triggered multi-samples?
Doesn't look so for the near future.

Nord may think that it's not that important, but I'd really like to be able to add a certain piano flavour without using up a multi-layer engine. So I'd like to see some in the future.

There's an interesting post
Velocity Layer Hack that provides detailed instructions on how to create two Nord samples that together provide the equivalent of a sample with two velocity layers (two sample engines needed). It's very simple especially if you have a text editor with a find/replace function.
