+1 I have the same problem. It works with Global MIDI but presents the issue you described when using EXTERN. I'm glad to hear there's a fix coming up.
I have exactly the same problem, but on the very latest firmware os 1.42.
It happens when I use the piano section alone, even without the external active. I tried changing the external midi channels, but no help there.
It's weird, it only happens once in a while.
