That's what I've done.

But you have to be prepared to do the following things :
- go the Downloads section of the Nord web site
- select Nord Piano 5
- select Nord Piano 5 Factory Restore Rev D v1.24 to download the factory file
- rename the extension of the downloaded file to "zip"
- extract the zip
- within the extracted folder, you will see the Piano subfolder, and then the Grand subfolder, containing the White Grand XL !

You have to rename the file?
Can’t nord just change it? Doesn’t seem too user friendly when you find that info in a non ‚official‘ forum it seems

Thanks, that worked! To anyone else who wants to try this - be sure you download the Rev D version of the factory restore in Downloads - NOT the Rev B which is in the Products Library for the Piano 5.

Go here and scroll down:

https://www.nordkeyboards.com/downloads/nord-piano-5

If you are running Windows, you will likely have to go into your settings so you can see the file extension. Search on "show file extensions" and then UNCHECK the box that says "hide extensions for known file types."

Then you'll be able to change the Factory Restore file extension to .zip

Corea - I agree with you but Clavia is out to lunch, and has been since the pandemic. We have to make do on our own until someone over there decides to be a customer-oriented company once again.

Sorry, Nord!

I'm interested in the Dyno filters for the Wurly, too (and the smaller White XL). So, I'll wait a few days, and if you aren't updating the piano files, I'll contribute to a lot of website traffic.

All the included files have new release numbers. Most of them either stayed close to the previous size or crawled up about 5-10mb, but there are a couple outliers:

The White Grand XL dropped down to 204. This was the only drop.
Studio Grand M jumped from the 50s to the 80s. Maybe they redid it, since it's still popular?
Wurlis are similar in size but now have Dyno options and sound better when you use those. I have attached the new Wurli 1
DX7 Full tines doubled in size from 11 to 21.
DX Rubba went from 8 to 20.

PS I downloaded the new, huge Studio 2 Med and it sure sounds like the Resonance is available on all keys...which would explain its big jump in size. A mis-label, and it's actually a Large? I mean my Bright Large is 86, and this Studio "Medium" is 81.

That or I can't discern Resonance very well, which is totally possible.

New DX7 Full Tines attached.

I tried attaching the White Grand XL but it's too huge and just hangs when trying to upload it to this site.

Anyone can download the NP5 factory backup, rename to .zip (as explained) and extract the new piano samples anyway.

Yes, yes they can. However, this is all kind of, well, unacceptable - especially the Wurli upgrades, for which some of us have been waiting quite a long time. And given that the XLs have gotten enormous, a 40MB drop in their flagship sample is kind of a big deal that a lot of people would benefit from. These updated samples didn't just appear this week - they've been around for almost a year.

If this is really what's happening, it's very strange.

They're silent for a long time and when they do make some improvements, they don't even advertise it!? :wtf:

And they don't even pull their website together, so that to access the new sample one has to extract it from a different bundle?
