I guess I'm a little late to the party! I currently run a Stage 3 and an MODX.

1. I think the Stage 3 keybed is significantly better than the MODX (the waterfall keys feel a little different but I got used to them for piano/synth).

2. I used to own an Electro, but not having pitch bend/mod wheels was a deal breaker. I sold it and got an S3. I also own a Kronos, and would put the S3 synth sounds right up there with it. You may end up preferring the Nord to the MODX synths/brass and regret not having the wheels. The only downside to the Nord for me (compared to the Kronos and MODX) is the lack of sonic variety.

3. The Nord is my main board, the MODX is a recent addition (I'd be interested in hearing other takes on using the 2 boards together.

As a new owner of a NE6, I thought I would weigh in here. I play in a rock cover band, mostly for fun with the occasional back yard and small club gigs. I had a Hammond xk1c & a Yamaha P105. I liked having a double set, made me feel like one of the big boys, but it got tiresome, heavy, and felt trapped with the limitations of those boards. I wanted one board, lighter, easy to play and navigate settings. I was initially interested in the Yamaha yc73, but did not like the feel of the keys, the Leslie sim, or the weight. The toggle switches also concerned me (breakage). I knew that going for a one fits all board I would be giving up something, probably acoustic pianos. In comes the Nord NE6. The organ and EP’s are absolutely a joy. I love the fact that I can apply any effect any time. The Leslie sim is great. The acoustic pianos are ok. They take some getting used to, and amplification is the
key. I recently bought a pair of Yamaha DBR 10’s and that has made all the difference. I am still exploring the synth side, but I believe there is enough packed in there. All in all very happy!
