Wow. That's not a great reply at all. Could you give it some context by pasting your original message to the supplier?

What?? :-x if I were the distributor I would report this up to Clavia‘s management, and if I were Clavia‘s management I would then fire this person right away. This is unacceptable and not the way to respond to customer questions, even if it’s just between Clavia and their distributor.

I wonder on the other hand why the distributor forwards this answer straight to you instead of alleviating it to a customer-friendly answer since it for sure was not meant to be forwarded to you as the customer. They should go back to the person at Clavia and telling her/him that this is not the way to answer such a question - not customer-oriented on the distributor’s side as well, as they should protect their vendors image instead of potentially destroying it because of a misbehavior of one of the vendor’s employees

The Polish distributor was extremely helpful and friendly! It's not his fault. He just wanted me to be sure everything is correct and this forwarded message from Clavia was underneath the message from Polish service center (Nord distributor in Poland).

Such an interesting thread. I went around checking all my various Nord Stages (NS2 88 and two NS3 Compact) as I couldn't remember which had the ventilation grills or not. I originally thought it was just the 88 and confirmed they are also on the Compact (at least the one I have at home as the other is at the currently quarantined rehearsal space).

I think the ventilation grills add a touch of class and detail, similar to what was on some earlier analog synths like the Roland JP-8. If they don't need the ventilation, then it makes sense to delete this and probably save a bit of time in the build process. Perhaps opening up efficiencies to make us a NS4??? :D

This is a rubbish reply, not defending it at all. But I'm really curious about how you worded your query.

I didn't talk directly to Clavia except that I was filling the form at their website asking if this is correct there are no vent holes. I was on the phone with Polish service center asking them the same question and they were suprised about this since I was the first one who ever noticed the difference. They checked some other NS3 they have in the distribution and it was confirmed that there are no vent holes. And then the Polish service center contacted Clavia directly to ask the same thing. That's it. Just a polite question about the thing, so I don't really understand Clavia's type of answer.

Seriously, you don’t want to be called an idiot if you as a grown up human try to put a screwdriver through the vent holes and got injured by main power ?
Come on, isn’t it bigger issues to worry about?
The reason might be that someone saw it as a risk ( it might be your kid that could do it), and I guess Nord saw it as a bit unnecessary to modify, but had to because they had to follow regulation to get the instrument approved on the different markets. And I guess the reply to the distributor was an “not so political correct“ sentence meant internal.

Yes, seriously I don't want to be called an idiot and a breed that is constantly looking for faults because I'm not. I don't have stupid ideas to put sth in a vent holes and I just asked polite and simple questions why my NS3 is different than those on the official Nord website. Is it that hard to understand?

200% on the OP side here. Such kind of reply would be unjustified coming from anyone, much less so coming from the company who tries to sell you their stuff. And this is so even if it were about something much less critical than ventilation holes.

There is no way that such an answer can be acceptable. I strongly doubt that the tone and disrespect in this email reflect Clavia's values and compliance rules.
Neither do I think that the firm wants this message left uncontested.

@jazzualdo: What about sending the whole conversation to their Feedback Page (https://www.nordkeyboards.com/about-us/feedback) and wait if they respond?

I'm really speechless that such a piece if miscommunication can happen in such a company.
