OK, here's an update:

I have taken lots of help from various folk, all of which has been helpful. Putting it all together along with some twiddling of my own i've come up with this. It's all in one program, so the 'drone and wibble' starts off, then the rhodes chords kick in beneath and finaly some organ is brought in using a control pedal to make it all bigger. I've set this on a song list with the next button being a more straight forward rhodes/hammond patch for the rest of the song.

So here's the original sound I've been trying to copy and the 'new' stage equivelent.

If anyone would like the stage 3 file it's included.

I like the changes. In case you're interested, I took the program from DJ Keys and changed the right-hand synth to speed up the LFO and turn up the flange effect using AfterTouch. The tremolo effect is used to change the volume slowly. The MP3 example and program are below. Take care.
