Cool story, I enjoyed reading it! What's the Hammond SM-2000 though? I couldn't find any information about it. Is it a console model?

There is very little information about it on the web. It's an early Hammond Suzuki digital product, and made in Italy. It is spinet-sized (dual 44 note keys, 1 octave pedals) and give seven drawbars for the upper manual, along with any ONE stop from a panel of "solo" or "orchestral" voices. Has a Hammond touch percussion, stop-buttons for the lower manual, and c "coupler" from pedal to great, which gives 16' on the lower man. for bass. It doesn't even weigh 60 pounds and is smaller than the M-3 or L models. The case is pretty much all plastic veneer Through a keyboard amp, it's adequate for practice. For $20.00 I'm happy. The "banjo" stop has an iterating percussive sound meant to emulate the strumming of a banjo. When my bandmates heard it, they all started yelling "Bubba O'Riley" or something. Who on earth are they talking about?

I finally ordered a case from Road Cases USA. Their salesman pointed me to their sister website http://www.casekits.com, where I found that a Level 9 case is what I was after.

I also ordered recessed wheels for the case which was a SPECIAL special order that the salesman didn't even know about until he called and asked his custom builder. I love these wheels- they are recessed in the case and they are like tough rollerblade wheels. The case rolls like a dream.

The C2 fits right inside, and I'm thinking about making a cutout in the foam to accommodate the half-moon switch.

The case doesn't seem to weigh much more than my Nord soft case.

I've had great success with bow cases for both my nord stage compact and newly acquired C2. I would not go so far as to say they are truely hard cases but I can throw these in my car for a gig without any worry. Shop any archery/sporting goods store and you're bound to find a good case. Each one fits these keyboards like a glove, they're light, and dirt cheap compared to flight cases (C2 case 65$, smaller case was around 15-20$).

I like that - what else can I use.

Bow cases! Great idea! And wow, what a rig. I'd love to finish off my C-2 rig with another Nord keyboard for piano and sampled sounds.


Dlargent, glad my suggestion was of use to you. My "Roadie" case has been a blessing. At "The Jilly Rizzo"s" last gig my case fended off a dozen micro-brew bottles, several cabbages and a potato. I think there a P-patch in the vicinity of the tavern we played at. Those cabbages looked like prize-winners to me, and tasted pretty good, too, when I got home.
