Thanks so much for the info Ziozues. I agree with you analysis. Nevertheless, when I sent the same question to tech support at American Music & Sound (Nord farms out tech support to their national distributors), this was their response (see below). I don’t think they’re really thinking about this UNIQUE specific problem, (Every F, A & C#, In every octave up and down the keyboard). I could order and “Swap out” the rubber contact strips, but my suspicion is that won’t fix the problem. What do you think my next course of action should be?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Hi Jesse,
Rubber contact strips need to be swapped out on this unit. This will require the newest contact strip PCBs, which have the updated blue contact strips. These can be ordered from us by the service center through our parts department anytime.

Hi Jesse,
Could you send me the video? I am going to have the service team in Sweden recommend a course of action.

Detailed description of problem/symptom:
Every few months, at apparently random intervals, every F, A and C# key,
going all the way up and down the keyboard in every octave, will start
playing at full velocity (127) regardless of the played velocity. All the
other notes play as normal, and are unaffected. This problem is regardless of
whether I am playing the internal sounds, or using the keyboard as a midi
controller, triggering a VST, for example. The problem occurs suddenly without
any apparent stimulus. When this problem occurs I have tried a system update,
as well as powering on and off, to no avail.
Then, just as randomly, a few days, or in some cases weeks later, the problem
disappears and the keyboard works normally. This problem has happened 4 times
so far over the last year. I have video tape of me playing the keyboard when
this problem is occurring (which I refrain from doing, of course), which I
would be happy to submit, if that would be helpful to you.
I contacted a local Nord authorized service repair center in my area, and
described the problem, and they said to bring in the keyboard so they could
repair it. But the day I was going to bring it in, the problem went away.
I talked to the people at the repair place and they said “Well, if it
ain’t broke, we can’t fix it. Why don’t you wait until the problem
recurs and bring it in then. Or, contact Nord or their US distributor and ask
them which part or parts they would recommend replacing based on your
description of this specific problem, and we will do that.”
So here I am. Can you help me? I don’t mind if I have to buy a whole new
Kawai RH88B PWB Assy, or whatever, or anything else, as long as it fixes the
problem. Can you help me?
Thanks so much in advance for the specific names and/or part numbers that you
think would be the likely cause of the problem, and which I should replace.
