no argument there -- planning on bringing a 73-note instrument into the cabin will always be a gamble, and some things just not worth gambling on
no fun being technically correct if it results in a smashed Nord
also, +1 on the Pelican case as a virtual equivalent to the SKB 3i-5014;they make solid stuff

Isn't the simplest (if not cheapest) solution to buy a ticket for the instrument and place it in the seat next to you?
I've seen guitars, cellos and other delicate big-but-not-huge instruments travel that way quite often.

If its not a trip from Europe to America

yes, if not the price of the ticket will be aprox. the price of a NS 3

( just kidding).

I live in Brazil and I've done this since I bought my Electro 5d 73 3 years ago and now with the Nord Stage 3 Compact as well.
However, as the rules related to hand luggage have changed in Brazil, I preferred to put my Nord Stage 3 on a HardCase.

Thank you so much for your kind replies.
It seems is very variable and the obvious and safer will be to get a proper hard case...

Now I am looking both models Pelican 1750 and SKB 3i-5014-TKBD.
Both models seems to fit good the NS3 Compact + the Gig bag. Pelican users said that are stronger and maybe better quality than SKB?
In the case of buying a Pelican, should I buy it with the foam, and then cut out the shape of my keyboard by myself???
Thanks!!

With the NS3C + gig bag, I think the foam needs to be removed totally or you could cut a small 5-6 inch piece at one end to fill the length void. If you can find a case without foam, that saves you money, I would get it without foam. Finding something to fill the length void, like pedals/cables in a homemade cardboard insert or box, is what I would do.

On the contrary, at least in the US, on a regular commercial airliner I have never been told I cannot bring my NS3C. It is smaller than a guitar, and guitars (and other overhead-sized instruments) are routinely accommodated. The Musician's Union here has worked with the airlines to secure general cooperation regarding instruments.
As an insurance measure, I usually wrap the board first in small and then in large bubble wrap inside the case. It makes the fit snug, but as long as you get it equally around all parts of the board, it protects nicely in the event of gate-checking.
So you often take your NS3C on cabin? the common sense is that it is smaller than some guitars, and usually, depending on the airline, people can bring a guitar on cabin...
So I'm still thinking about it... Is not for saving the money of the hard case, but because I feel safer to have the instrument with me...
Thanks!

Worth looking at, not sure if the internal dimensions are too tight for enough foam protection, looks close.
Try googling: Monoprice 47" x 16" x 6"
21lb Hard Case with wheels $158 shipped Amazon US, the internal dimensions are 44.80 x 13.82 x 5.24 (1138 x 351 x 133 mm) | comes with customizable foam 7/12/19
With 5.24 inch internal height, you'd only have enough room for half inch foam on top and bottom, so I'm not sure.

I'll anticipate with the airline company (Royal Air Maroc) and in //, will seek for local renting.
Will keep you posted.
