Great to get real opinions from users, rather than relying on the seller's opinion ... which is often, "Oh yes, you'll love that product ... can we wrap it up for you now so you can take it home?"
Nothing wrong with EV - My old group used all EV's and I had a set of ELX 112P's which were very warm and lush for the Nord pianos. In comparison my singer owned a pair of the legacy QSC K12's but they always sounded harsher and slightly more unpleasant than the warm sound of the EV's. We took the EV's almost every time.
I havent listened to the K8.2's and given all the positive comments I am curious. They seem to pack a real punch in such a small package.
A question please for 8.2 owners.. i notice that the speaker has some kind of presets that you can fiddle with. Is there an option to add reverb for the mic input? (Am thinking could maybe do away with the need for a mixer if its just me and the singer - one less bit of gear to lug about)

Nope, no internal FX options.

The presets are different EQ curves for potentially different situations: used as floor monitors, used for public speaking, used for dance/EDM, etc. Most of the time mine are set flat.

There is also the ability to customize the EQ to suit your needs. I attenuated the upper shelf to smooth out the treble. This addressed the harshness the original K8's had and helps give me a warmer sound. Very happy with them.

Hello to the happy owners of the QSC K8.2
Not yet equipped with it and reading the manual, I have a quick question:
Do you manage the volume with the small "gain" button?
I'm a bit disturbed with the '0' graduation in the middle of the course of this button, which for me relates to:
0 - nominal level (the so called 2000 Watts?)
less than 0 - reduced gain (with related reduced volume)
More than 0 - compensated low output with risk of overdrive
(I may have spent too much time with guitar amps where gain means from clean to overdrive and volume means ... volume
)

Yes, you control the level of the monitors through the gain knobs.
The manual indicates the 0 dB mark on the gain knob may have to do with the XLR mix out connector that is post gain: The line signal coming out of that mix-out jack only has the same level as the incoming signal if gain is set to 0 dB. You may see it as a simple technical term for pre-amplifying of the input to the built-in class-D amp, just as you would have it on a mixing console.
I usually use my K8.2s as monitors in the big band (not only for me, but also for the band) - and have the gain set 2 to 4 steps below 0 dB with the Nord volume set to around 3 o' clock. So usually there's enough headroom even with gain not exceeding 0 dB. It was a little different with a microphone, though.
Besides, the amplifier peak is 1800 + 225 = 2025 W. This is certainly not standard output power. I understand it as max. transient power.
