I'm still going back and forth with this one.
For playing solo piano or with band where the piano is dominant I prefer the White.
But any band song where the piano isn't dominant I prefer the Silver grand as I feel it cuts through much better.

Absolutely right! I did it and I got the answer: "I sampled note by note of all keys of my Nord at various velocity layers and then the notes are edited and finally the samples are loaded into Kronos and the program edited on Kronos."

What a massive effort to get the White Grand on a Kronos, especially if one owns a Nord as well I wonder why someone spends that much time and energy on this, is the White Grand that much better than all of the Kronos pianos? Seems as if I made a good decision not to buy a Kronos but switch to Nord

Interesting take. I've been using the Bright Grand where piano is dominant but Royal Grand (and occasionally even a Blue Suede) where it's not. But I've never been sure whether those are wise choices. Anyone have any opinions on how the White compares to the Bright when the piano is dominant in a rock/dance band? Or even when it's in the back and needs to come through a bit?

I don't play in a rock band, so take this for what it's worth. Based on the sound profiles, I would speculate that the Royal Grand is too "full" sounding and may clash in the lower midrange with other instruments. I would offer that the Silver Grand, Bright Grand, Grand Upright and Black Upright work better in a rock context, as they can cut through but are rather well behaved in the lower midrange. The White Grand, with a bit of EQ treatment, would probably work as well.

MonkeyDonkey: For solo playing at home, or for a sparse song like "Someone Like You", Royal Grand works great for me, even in my mono / single speaker setup. But I have not been able to make it work in our 7 person covers band - for me it does not cut through. In our 7 person covers band, it does not matter whether the piano part is dominant, or more of an accessory. In either case I need it to cut through without getting in the way of the other instruments.

I am a single speaker user (mono), so the other AP sounds shared by Rusty Mike (except the White Grand) do not work for me. If you are running in stereo (two speakers) they might work great for you (I have no experience with them in stereo).

I can't test the White Grand in my old Electro 3, but many here are saying it is really good even in mono.

But, cause there is a but, in the mids, the sounds is too short, it it decays too quickly for me. If i compare with the royal, this one decays constantly, slowly.
I think the adsr of the beautiful white grand, is not good in the mids. It will be my best of pianos when updated for sure.

I think it is quite unlikely that it will be redone.

What you hear is probably a very faithful rendering of the actual instrument - which in my view has a beautiful tone.

But I guess there is no one perfect instrument that ticks all boxes for everyone.

That’s the big difference in my experience between Nord and others: they all supply „perfect“, idealised instruments that can be messed up in FX etc.

Nord supplies actual, real instruments. They’re not perfect. Just like in real life.
