Never mind - it's the Chrome browser. When I used Safari it downloaded fine. Interesting - not sure if that's just me or the download itself.

Probably a setting or an extension in the browser that tries to "open" rather than download the files of that type; you may want to check which extensions you have and maybe switch some from chrome://extensions/Gambold wrote:Never mind - it's the Chrome browser. You seem to have linked the *.zip extension to the internal text viewer. ZIP files always start with "PK_" as in your screenshot.

It's weird because Chrome has no problem with any of the other Nord restore files. Just this one. Microsoft Edge wouldn't download it either - and I never use that, so it was a default configuration. Only Safari worked.

>The Stage 4 factory sound bank rev B contains :
- Wurlitzer 1 6.3
- EP8 Nefertiti XL 6.2
which are newer than in the Piano 5 factory sound bank rev D that was available for a while.<
My guess is these updates have a line or two of code added that was needed by the Stage 4. If anyone hears a difference with the updated Nefertiti, let us know!

This .ns4b is a new extension actually, different from all other backups (.ne6b, .ns3b, .np5b, ...); anyway, try to right click the link and select to Save or Download instead of OpenGambold wrote:It's weird because Chrome has no problem with any of the other Nord restore files. All the EP8 Nefertiti XL files (6.0, 6.1, 6.2) share the same size : 30,311,350 bytes.
And for info, very few bytes difference between 6.1 and 6.2 : I suspect some CRC value changes.

I'm curious if you ever updated your White and Studio Grands and if you noticed any difference? I just bought a Piano 5 today, my first Nord and was wondering about updating.kirsty wrote:Picking up on this news with interest. I have archived all the old samples and new too so have just downloaded the version D backup.
I will have a play with those new samples tomorrow and see if I can hear any difference.
Arguably if the White has been thinned out and saved circa 40MB, but the Studio Grands have increased 30MB - i'd want to hear some improvement for the extra space its occupying

When I replaced the White Grand sound, I found the new version as good as the original version.jackamoo wrote:I'm curious if you ever updated your White and Studio Grands and if you noticed any difference? I just bought a Piano 5 today, my first Nord and was wondering about updating.
But I haven't done an A/B comparison.
I can't tell anything about the Studio Grands as I don't use them.
I've done a sound comparison only for the updated Wurlitzers.
The updated Wurlitzer 1 has an audible improvement in the range C7 and above.
So with the added support for Dyno filters, they are worth upgrading.
As you have a Piano 5 with more memory than an Electro 6, it may be easier for you to do some comparison for other piano sounds.
