Well, at least we know they are still breathing at Nord. It's always nice to see a new sample, although if this means we won't see a new grand for another year or two, no, I'm not ecstatic.

in the past six years we've seen two grands and five uprights. This one is bigger than any upright before it, continuing the unexplained pattern of growing file sizes.

And hey - let's stop calling these "a gift." New samples are not a favor to us from Clavia. Regular new piano samples are promised as part of the purchase price, and are marketed as such all over their website.

I tested it last night, it sounds good, but there is a little noise in the attack of the note around C#4, I couldn't keep it because of that, it's really annoying I find. I hope this will be corrected.

I, for one, have no commitment to regular updates on the purchase contracts for my two NS3s, and I didn't read the Nord website before I bought an NS3. I went to the music store because I wanted something easier to use on stage than the Roland and Yamaha workstations I had been playing. I spent a day there testing different instruments and finally decided on the Nord Stage. The fact that Nord provides new samples was definitely an additional gift for me according to my expectaitons, not part of the basis for my decision. But I agree with you, if Nord advertises it like this, then you can expect them to keep their promise - but they don't say what is meant by "constantly updated" .....

Interestingly enough, it was again the C#4 note. But that was noticeable only under specific EQ settings/resonance. Does the Pearl Upright does this even with all options off?

Yes, it concerns about 3 / 4 notes around the C#4 (which must correspond to the mapping area that uses the offending sample) for me it was obvious, impossible to leave this pinao sound in my Nord electro 6, Too bad.

Nord needs to change the mic they record with or some kind of eq is missing on their part maybe?

I don't think it comes from the microphone, because the other sounds captured are nice, I don't know what happened when this sound was sampled.
With the tools available for sound restoration, I don't think it can't be solved.

Incidentally, this also hints at the fact that not even XL samples are mapped "key by key" as advertised.

There has been another example of noise in the sample, can't remember the thread now, but it sounded like a door shutting from a distance. It was present in two adjacent keys, so again probably the same sample stretched.

I'm not sure my memory is correct, but I think the EP8 Nefertiti was revised not long after it was released because of some offending sound in one place. I still have these files on my PC, these both worked on my old Electro 3, and the difference in file size proves something actually did change:

Has anyone checked if this issue with C#4 also exists in the smaller sizes of the Pearl? (I have an Electro 3, so I cannot check myself).
