Re: List of Nord Stage 3 known issues/bugs
I don't know if anybody else agree or not, but after theses Updates, and considering some quite noticiable changes (by some users including myself) in Piano session between Os.es
I thought that would be very nice to add to the upcoming OS.es :
- A possibility of a louder string ressonance and Pedal Noise
- An editable release for or long release (as NS2) in order to releases just coming back.
- Lowering the latency
- An editable or a specific velocity for NS3C (which has a completely diffentet keybed and velocity from 76 an 88)
- A fine tune in piano equalization x velocity
- A possibility to access ALL 4 Clavinet equalizations mixes.
Anyone else agree or would am I asking to much?

Re: List of Nord Stage 3 known issues/bugs
I have a NS3 Compact with a very annoying bug:
3 months ago it seemed like the polyphony on all sections failed badly.
As an example, if a piano sound contains 1-100 different tones, the NS3 only played the ones between 40-70. (as said just an example)
Sounded worse than an cheap keyboard for children.
And even if all volumes was set to max I could barely hear any sound from Wurlitzer, Elpiano etc.
I updated the firmware and did a factory reset, and this seemed to do the trick.
Then, a couple of weeks ago at a gig I switched the NS3 on, bug was back. Worst timing ever.
Tried to re-update and downgrade firmware many times, and done factory resets aswell, bug remains.
Had no other choice than send it to the repairshop.
But ofcource when they received it the bug was gone.
Anyone else experienced this?

Re: List of Nord Stage 3 known issues/bugs
It sounds like one of the channels has its phase inverted and they’re summed to mono. That would cancel out any signal in the center of the stereo field.
This happens a lot with cheap/inferior 1/4“-to-1/8“ headphone adapters, though we’ve seen an improperly wired DI box do it too here on the forums.
If that’s the case, it has nothing to do with the Stage itself.
I recently had the issue, and pulling the 1/8“ plug out of the adapter and firmly re-inserting it dislodged whatever dirt was shorting it internally, fixing the problem.

Yeah, I have been thinking the same thing.
But I have tried different setups (DIbox, headphones etc) and the problem is still there.
The first time it happened was while using headphones. After firmware upgrade and factory reset everything was back to normal, did not unplug headphones etc.
Guess I have to wait and see what comes out of the repair.

What the hell,30 min before the gig ((
(For that reason soon i sell mine compact, inspite Yes Nord has super duper samples, bla bla bla, BUT it has so f....g many bugs ...you just name it starting from very fragile inside connectors ending up with soft.
I have not seen such things in my entire music career on any of my workstations . ( Personally get the bloody Kronos or Montage and not look at this direction anymore).
Sorry for such input but Nord we are not kids, been fooled over and over again!

ALL electronic equipment, keyboards, mixers, amps, have some rate of failure.Ivan Jochner wrote:What the hell,30 min before the gig ((

All the Nord gear I have purchased has been well built and is pretty robust. The Stage 3 is not any more prone to failure than any other keyboard gear.
You're on a forum in a thread specifically to report bugs so its not surprising that you'd find people actually reporting issues, but the people here represent a very small number of actual Nord users and total units shipped.
Are there still refinements to be made to the NS3, of coarse its only been shipping for a little over a year. Are boatloads of units failing and needing repair, that doesn't appear to be the case.
If your not happy with your NS3 than by all means sell it, but lets not cry the sky is falling when it clearly is not.

"SOME RATE" but not such rate like Nords consistent bugs both on soft and hardware.cgrafx wrote: ALL electronic equipment, keyboards, mixers, amps, have some rate of failure.

From my experience Nords among the other have so much troubles to win the Oskar in this league.
(Owned NS 1 - was reloading itself on the concerts over over again. Bought NS3- all of the sharp keys were squeaking as hell.) i could continue this list forever.
My critique IS for Clavia to listen to their customers for better ( not just complaining).
Not man, If I pay bloody 4000 bucks for the unit i expect it to work as it should be, especially on the STAGE 30 min before the CONCERT,cgrafx wrote:Are there still refinements to be made to the NS3, of coarse its only been shipping for a little over a year. ( of course when you have some cases when Nord is not functioning properly thats ok, but SO many troubles from many customers, no excuses.)

Re: List of Nord Stage 3 known issues/bugs
I have 4 Nords, and they have all worked really well for me. Compared to many other systems/solutions, I think Nord does a very good job of continued sound- and feature upgrades and responding to any issues.
But that is just my experience YMMV -- I'm not saying this to diminish any problems, and having a keyboard break down just before a gig is horrible!
To @musickristof: It almost looks like a failing power supply. I trust that you had a stable power line to the keyboard, but if not, it might be good to check there are no obvious issues there. But of course, if you've seen the same issue in other conditions, it's not unlikely to be e.g. a failing power supply.

Guess if I purchase a 100K car it should never break down, I mean it was so expensive. Stuff breaks. AGAIN Nords track record has been very good and ALL manufactures have product failures.Ivan Jochner wrote:"SOME RATE" but not such rate like Nords consistent bugs both on soft and hardware.cgrafx wrote: ALL electronic equipment, keyboards, mixers, amps, have some rate of failure.

There is nothing that will prevent a piece of equipment from failing at the worst possible time. I just happens, but don't kid yourself into believing the grass is greener elsewhere.
Roland, Yamaha, Kurzweil, etc., etc., all have user's with horror stories.
I have my own personal issues with plenty of things that Nord does (you only have to look at my history to see that), but stomping your feet isn't going to make any difference and this is NOT a Nord managed forum. It is a USER run forum with NO direct affiliation with Nord. They don't respond here, and while they may monitor the forum, my experience is they don't pay a lot of attention to what goes on here.
If you have an issue, you need to send that information directly to Nord. If your not happy with Nord's reliability or policies than sell your gear and buy something else.
