An Electro/CD3 hybrid.

They merge the two boards and bring both dual AND single manual versions out, with a new, updated and refreshed organ engine, a piano section and sample synth section. 3 layers/splits at a time (any more is pushing into stage territory).

If purists just want the CD3, they should do that, but for the Electro, I think they can’t keep up with the incremental changes in each generation with other manufacturers now hot on their tales. The Electro needs a complete overhaul imo.

Or ideally, a version with 61 SW keys on the top manual and 73 HP keys on the bottom. Throw in a built in USB Midi/Audio interface or proper inputs for external module control (again, way out of Electro territory and would kill the need for a Stage, but they need to keep up with the competition which is currently showing itself to be far more intuitive) and that’d be my dream board (if it had pitch bend and decent MIDI control capabilities, but I doubt they’d include that on the electro).

In a perfect world it would have pitch bend and mod/filter options, BUT again that’s getting into stage territory. They’d cannibalise their Stage sales if they introduced those things in an electro.

I do think Nord have to rethink the electro series now. Boards like the YamahaYC-61, Korg VOX, etc, all do what the electro does, but they include basic things like pitch bend, more synth control, etc. Nord obviously have a very clear vision for each of their boards and have been clear from day 1 what the Electro is and isn’t supposed to be, but I’m suspecting they’ll start to feel a bit more of the heat from the competition soon if they haven’t already. The Electro 6 may still be the top seller on Thomann, but I think the cool factor of Nords and arguably warmer/more authentic sounds arent going to keep the average musician from switching to something more versatile forever.

There is only one thing; A decent keybed like Kawai. Then they have a winner. I play with headphones on my Nord electro 6 HA because without it I only hear
the noise of the key's. The action gets terrible even more.

I’m interested in the Nord Electro but am put off by a couple of missing features :-

Pitch Bend and modulation wheels
Preset bank recall buttons

If the Electro 7 added these it would be my ideal keyboard

In order to make proper use of PB and MW you would need a real synth engine as well, an electro with those features would enter the stage territory IMO. If you see the evolution of the electro models through the years you will see that they tend to resemble more and more to a stage, in a more economic package though. I think that there is not much they can do anymore to keep this line between the electro and stage models distinguishable, so they are infront of a crossroad: they either keep producing electros with some small enhancments (memory upgrade e.g.) so that they keep their lower budget customers, or they stop producing electros and drop a little bit the stage prices.

Well guys if we look at previous trends, the Electro 7 could come out in a few days. I hope it has more piano and sample memory and maaaaaaybe a pitch/mod wheel, those are probably the only 2 things Nord can add. Maybe a dual panel mode like the Stage 3 but I'd say it's overkill for an Electro.

I'm happy with the simple split/layer of my NE5, the better MIDI (than 6), the wonderful song/setlist mode. So just give me the NE5 + seamless transition + any effect on any engine (so I can have a drive on my Wurly and my B3). But that's about it, really. And many thanks to Nord for their excellent Nord Sample Editor 3. I now have the best sounds from my Mopho Keys as polyphonic patches. Great!

Yes getting closer to what an E7 should be. It’s simple take all the best features from the previous Electros and put them in the 7

Effects shared with 2 or more parts -E7
Depth and Speed control on FX - E7

Seamless transition - E6
Monitor in that is mixed with the main outs -E6
Layers - E6
Audio routing eg Organ right, others left - E7 and E4?

Setlist mode -E5
Upper Midi Split -E5

Separate Drawbar CCs for upper and lower - E4
Dedicated clavinet switches - E4 and earlier

Etc etc

The ability to mix 2 sounds from the same sound engine (e.g. a piano & Rhodes, a prophet 5 & strings), or to split 2 sounds from the same engine (e.g. Piano on bottom half, Rhodes on top half)

Cut off and resonance knobs on the sample synth (athough I guess that might make it too similar to the Stage in terms of what can be done with on the fly sound editing).

Yes - cutoff on the sample engine! A great idea.

Sample memory increase...? Sure, why not. I thought the 6 was pretty good, but it would be great to have all the Mellotron samples on-board as well as everything else.

And reverb as the final effect in the FX chain for all instruments (Piano, sample, and organ)

A spring reverb and new amp sims!
Pitch bend for the synth section and crossfade between 2 sounds for classic Mellotron playing.
Bring back the control pedal behaviour of the NE3 ring mod!!!
The option to change the effect amount by holding down the shift button. Or bring back the 2nd knob from the NE2.

:thanks:
