I think that to achieve some signature sounds, and maybe new samples ain't even necessary. Nord need to release a revised version of the factory presets (like korg does), in it include more EPs tailored to sound like a specific record.
Also, let's wait till namm to speculate, though personally I do not believe an upgrade is due soon.

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ESX1SD/ might be worth a look. Sure it is a dance-music-oriented piece of gear, but its still a sampler, plus it has a sequencer. Might be useful.
Gustav,
i had a look at the Korg but its not really my type of thing. But thank you anyway.
What i am going to do mate is hold out and see what Nord do regarding if they release an NS2-EX and also if they bring out improved mega Rhodes samples in the near future. Until then i am going to keep my Stage Classic as it just does not justify switching it at this point. The main things i like about the NS2 is the 500MB Piano Memory, Arpeggiator, and i am also interested in the sampler (from the point of view that i can download sampels from the Clavia website). Though as you know i have an Emu sampler (though is over 10 x years old !!) but it is still ok for usage at the moment for what i need. And if i ever need extra sounds, i just midi up my Roland JV1080 to the Nord for some extra library.
Ta,
Paul

Yes, that would be excellent and i would happily pay top dollar for something like that.

I don't think the Nord architecture is particularly well suited to that approach. The only tools that are available to modify the sounds are the ones on the Nord itself (basically 3-band EQ, fx, amp sim)... which isn't to say that you can't get a lot of variation out of that, but it is not the range of change that Korg or Kurzweil can apply to a sampled sound. For more extensive variation than that, new programs would have to be released as new samples (taking up that much more space in piano sample RAM), even if they are actually using the same recorded samples they already have but processed differently.

Thats a great and interesting calculation !! Thanks for working that out.

Hello
i've got a nord stage classic and all my sounds on it.
now i bought a nord stage 2.
i already know, that i can't transfer the sounds with the nord stage manager.
now i "rebuilt" the sounds by hand - step by step. pretty much damn work ...
the only problem i have:
synth section:
the "
pulse" of the nord stage classic sounds different than the one on Nord stage 2.
it sounds kind of "warmer and bigger".
i need the "old" pulse - sound on my new NS2. without it, i'm not able to rebuilt most of my synth sounds.
is there anybody out there with the same problem?
how did you solve it?
a possibity would be the nord sample editor. but isn't there a "better" way?
cheers & thanks - michi°
ps: is it possible to transfer the "Concert Grand Steinway D close" from the NSclassic to the NS2.

Yes to your last question. Go to the Clavia website, then LIBRARIES then GRAND PIANOS...and down load the Concert Grand Close'. It is also on the DVD that came with your NS2, I think. Use SOUND MANAGER to load it to the NS2...

To the pulse question, I also noted that. But after having played some true analog gear on vacations, I have realized that the NS2 sounds more analog.
Still if you NEED to recreate that pulse sound, I guess you could sample the pure wave and then just use that as an oscillator.

I would add that he may also try to make the sound "fatter and warmer" using the Multi settings of the NS2 synth

Plus the amp sim/EQ.
