Nord electro (electro 1) query for Update software/sounds

I have an old Electro 61 (1) and also wish to update
I have followed the instructions in this tread. with a midi interface(midilink mini). and up until but when the updater searches, it doesn't find an electro...

Hi, the update will never find the Electro as such, because it uses standard MIDI DIN not USB (which shows the instrument name instead); you need to point the updater to the USB-MIDI cable name

I don't have a E1, I have E5D but just wanted to see what the outcome of this was because everything on my E5 is USB for OS updates, sample loads etc... Never used a regular midi cable for anything. What would the E1 midi cable go to? PCs and Macs don't come with midi connection. Somewhat confused, and I'm IT guy and have an Electro. Thanks
