Re: Nord Lead A1 - Global Midi Channel(s)
Anyone know when it was changed (yeah, I could check all the manuals, but perhaps someone (kroffe?) knows offhand) from the NL2 to the A1 behavior?

Re: Nord Lead A1 - Global Midi Channel(s)
Nord Lead 1, 2 and 2x:
Then there are other aspects of the early Nord Leads midi implementation:
Nord Lead 3:
Nord Lead 4 and A1:
What's not mentioned in the User Manual is that the global channel also requires a CC#0:0 before accepting a program change on global channel in order to change performance.Nord Lead 2 User Manual wrote: Global MIDI Channel
This is the MIDI Channel used for transmitting and receiving Program Change messages for switching between Performances.
Then there are other aspects of the early Nord Leads midi implementation:
This unfortunately also means that things can get a little confused when using split-points. The lower and upper parts now sends midi on last focused slot within their particular split-zones.Nord Lead 2 User Manual wrote: All four Program Slots always receive MIDI, regardless of which one is selected, or if layering of one or more slots is activated or not. However, all Slots used in a Layer (i.e. all Slots that are activated) will also receive on the MIDI channel set for the leftmost active Slot!
This means that if you have a layer consisting of Slots A, B and D, and Slot A is set to MIDI channel 1, both Slots B and D will receive on channel 1, as well as on their respective set channels.
Nord Lead 3:
Nord Lead 3s global channel works essentially the same way as the Nord Lead 1,2 and 2x but in Performance mode, the keyboard will send separate midi on and off messages for ALL active slot channels at once.Nord Lead 3 User Manual wrote: The Global MIDI Channel should be used for sending and receiving MIDI Program Change messages when in Performance mode
Nord Lead 4 and A1:
In the Nord Lead 4 and A1, the keyboard always send on global channel, regardless of slot focus. Globalchannel is also used to play performances and receive program change in order to change performance from remote host.Nord Lead A1 User Manual wrote: The Global MIDI Channel transmits all keyboard, pedal and panel ac- tions. It can also be used as a receiving channel.
