To the OP:

I love my E4, but the solo in question is squarely in mono synth territory. The right tool for the job, and all that.

If you don't have one of those, a harmonica, harmonium or reed organ sample might suggest the solo's timbre to an untrained ear... maybe.

Well, since I just love that song, I couldn't resist the challenge...

I've programmed a Harmonica-lead-sound on my NL2 and then sampled that to create a sound for my NE4. It works surprisingly well as you can see in the little demo. (Of course, it sounds even better when I play the solo directly on the NL2, with pitch bend and modulation etc.)
