Re: NEW: Nord Lead A1
I would have been annoyed if I bought the NL4 and a NL5 came out next day, but that is not the case at all. Go enjoy your NL4s and make good music with them!
Even at the same price I still think I would choose the NL4.
I think that the new A1 is a curious product to be brought out so close of the NL4 release, but who knows what the Clavia guys have in mind.
I still think that if they made a mini Nord, small, 10 voice polyphony and 2 slots (and the right price) they would sell them by the bucket after the potential NL4 market is saturated. There is no Nord product in the little synth niche. But maybe they are not after that share of the market?

Re: NEW: Nord Lead A1
Hi Nords
can anyone help me to find out what the main difference between NL4 and NLA1 is? I bought NL4 few weeks ago and must say I probably overestimated my synth skills, as it is quite difficult to create sounds I want to create. The new NLA1 seems much easier to me. Is there missing anything essential? Or is the process of creating sounds much different from the NL4?
May sound like a stupid question, sorry for that

Re: NEW: Nord Lead A1
That is, according to the Nord literature, the primary difference between the two keyboards (along with some other things, like built-in effects and such): a MUCH quicker and easier interface.

Re: NEW: Nord Lead A1
... and a lower price.
In E.U. the street price for a Nord Lead 2X is 1090 € and the NL4 is 1800 €.
Whatever happens, I can't know if the A1 will take the 2X's place in the product catalog, but if I was looking for a new analog synth now, I'd buy the 2X.

Re: NEW: Nord Lead A1
And it appears the A1 only has one oscillator with numerous configs to add voices, like the synth in the NS2-

Re: NEW: Nord Lead A1
On the Sound Technology (UK Distributor) website it is saying that the A1 is replacing the 2X.
It is a weird addition to the range. I guess the NL4 does look daunting at first glance... but apart from that I don't really get it. If the price difference was more significant then I could see the logic.
I'd love a Phaser on the NL4. I wonder if it sounds like a Small Stone.

The NLA1 is designed to be quicker. I doubt it is much easier. The NL4 interface is as easy as it gets.bootch wrote:Hi Nords

If you are having trouble programming the sounds you want, maybe you should check out some books on programming. I would recommend Mitchell Stigman's Keyboard Presents Steal This Sound. Welsh's Synthesizer Cookbook (Vol 1 and 2) are also worth looking at.

Re: NEW: Nord Lead A1
For anyone feeling hard done by at not having a nice analog sounding Chorus/Ensemble effect on the NL4 but an (IMO 'special effect' at best) 'talk box', I'm running my NL4 outputs back into my DAW through the (free) TAL-Chorus-LX plugin (designed to emulate the Roland Juno Chorus) it sounds great try it. If you're using the Nord in the studio it's a great solution and free to boot
