I use the sequencer to dump a sysex midi prog change to the NS to change its sounds. (midi dumb clip in Ableton)Burningkeys wrote:Seems like most of the bugs found so far is ok now. How ever I still miss the SysEx function and the ability to dump a program with all settings to a midi track in your host sequencer for fast recall.
Is there anyone more than me who miss this or how do you save your settings when working with a computer?

Re: List of Nord Stage 2 known issues/bugs
Here is my list of bugs. Anyone has the same problem?
- Shift + "Synth Init" does not work
- Swell Pedal (Yamaha) with dest. All doesn't work for the piano. It works only with organ and synth-Section.
- Extern Section: Shift + "KB Zone Select" does not deactivate the zones. This was possible before with the Stage EX.
- The "Acoustics" in the Piano Section don't work with the Nord Sustain Pedal. Is that normal or do I need the nord triple pedal?
- Programm changes are not working
questions:
- Is it not possible to load .nspg programms?
- I can't find presets in the Synth Section (Bass, Synth, Pad). This was very useful when I played with the stage EX. Especially when I quickly wanted to add a pad sound for example in the live mode.
Thanks! Chris

Hi Subvox and welcome to the forum :)subvox wrote:- Shift + "Synth Init" does not work

Here is some stuff from the NS2 manual page 32.
Hope it helps.Selecting synth sounds
There are 300 available memory slots for synth sounds/patches. Press
Shift and the waveform button, then turn the waveform selector dial
to scroll through the available synth sounds. The name of the sound
will appear in the LCD display and the sound will immediately become
active in the Stage 2.
Sound Init
To start with a “clean slate” when programming sounds you can use
the Sound Init function. This will initialize the synthesizer to a basic default
setting. This is done by pressing Shift and the waveform selector/
Load Sound button and turn the waveform dial counter-clockwise until
INi is shown in the oscillator LED.

Hi Cbas,
thank you for your answer.
The “Inits” provides a quick way to activate a single instrument on the Stage 2 and to route all effects to it, while turning off the other instruments...
What about my other problems? Are they known?
Chris

I must correct myself. This function works perfectly. I didn't realized this:Cbas wrote:subvox wrote:- Shift + "Synth Init" does not work

I guess the problem is solved now!bertpeeters wrote:I've found one more problem which is technically not NS2-related: the Piano Library v5 is not yet compatible with the new Release function in the NS2. The release function requires v5.2 samples, which are contained in the NS2 memory on delivery (and also in the factory backup ns2b-file). The Piano library on the website and on the CD contains only v5.0 or v5.1 samples which can be used in the NS2, but the Release function is disabled. Clavia said they're working on upgrading the library.
They released a v5.3 piano library for the NS2

Re: List of Nord Stage 2 known issues/bugs
Hello,
just found a new bug.
When I depress the sustain pedal while doing a midi record in audio logic, the pedal off message is not recorded. Does anyone have a solution for this promlem?

Sound editor with all the functions would be wonderful.
But...assign MORPH all the knobs is necessarily, also rotory speed.

Hi,
This is a bug, isn't it:
(In NS2) if you choose in "SYSTEM" menu "Ctrl Pedal Use as Swell: Yes" control pedal starts to work as swell pedal (like it's supposed) but it does not work any more as a control pedal...?!?

I´m experiencing the same thing. On the classic and EX you could choose "use control pedal as swell" and this would apply to the organ only, it would still work as a control pedal for other
parameters. Now on NS2 it seems that you have to choose. Annoying! Yes, one can assign the control pedal to the level of the organ, but this is a different response curve than a swell function.
Hopefully this is a bug. I´m compiling a list of things for Nord support.
Last night I was up recreating my patches from my EX manually on the NS2. Fair enough that they couldn´t make the programs for EX and NS2 compatible. I guess this is a postive thing in the eyes of development. But what I´m noticing mostly at the time is a big difference in the "drive"-function. There´s a big difference in sound when you activate "drive", and on the NS2 the minimum amount of drive you can have is significantly different from the EX. On the EX you could activate "drive" and set it to a minimum amount, just to have a little touch of overdrive. On the NS 2 the smallest amount of drive makes the sound distort quite a lot more. Quite annoying when you only want a hint of warmth and distortion. I mostly use the "small" amp for rhodes and this is not as sensitive as in the EX-generation.
Anyone else here agree?

Re: List of Nord Stage 2 known issues/bugs
I agree. For me, the amount of distortion you get at even the lowest possible setting makes the whole drive option virtually unusable for the rhodes, wurli and clav unless you're after a clearly distorted type of sound. I've never owned or played an EX so I don't know if it was any better there. I wonder if things like this can be fixed in an OS update or that fx models are "baked" in the DSP chips or something.
In the same line of thought I really think the two phaser fx are far from perfect. I have a lot of experience with using VST fx and I am aware that most digital phaser models are not even close to the real thing also, but I've heard much better ones than what is inside the stage 2. It's day and night if I use a real Small Stone on the stage's rhodes.
