Thanks again, mjbrands! I've been watching a lot of video reviews of the Scarlett interfaces, and I must say I'm quite impressed. I also like the fact that it gives so much quality for such a small amount of money. I really consider buying the 2i4. I also guess it would look good on stage together with my Macbook and my NS2.

Once again - Another question; On some of the videos i've watched, they recommend using a DI-box (for the 2i2). Do you use one, and do you recommend it?

Appreciate your helpfulness!

And if I for some reason would like to use the Scarlett without a computer; could I connect the USB to a cellphone charger (the bottom part), to get the same quality, only without USB?

Just curious :-)

What would you expect it to do in that case? I haven't tried, but I think that at most the headphone output (and its volume control) works.

I could give it a test with my iPhone charger and maybe connect it to my iPad with the camera connection kit (only supplies 100 mA, no idea if it would work as an audio interface).

I'm wondering if it could send a balanced signal to monitors or a mixer, or something :)
If I buy the 2i4 (and I'm quite sure I will), I won't use it without my mac anyway :)

Also, could I use a "Y cable" to get stereo through one of the inputs, and use a microphone for vocal in the other input? Sorry for asking so many questions, but I like knowing the stuff I'm thinking to buy, before I buy it.

No, not a "Y" cable, you need a summing circuit:

It can send both a balanced and an unbalanced (live-level) signal on the first two outputs, while the additional 2-track outputs (two stereo pairs) can only send a line-level signal.

I don't understand what a summing circuit is .. Didn't really understand the explanation.. Could you please explain? is there some kind of equipment you can buy to do this?

Thanks for answers!

Yes, you can buy a small mixer instead of making the circuit in Fig 2. But it is very unclear what you are intending to do. You also mention using a microphone and a balanced signal (?) on the same cable? I do not think that such mix would work unless the impedances and levels are matched.

Oh, that wasn't what i meant! - I'm just wondering if I could merge the two signals from the NS2 into one, so I could have space for a microphone in the nr. 2 preamp. :-)
