Re: Organ Swell Should Turn Volume to 0
David! Thank you for your understanding of the problem that NO ONE ELSE SEEMS TO BE GETTING!!!! Why...let me reiterate...WHY, can the organ swell input NOT go to 0?? I know it doesn't on the real Hammond, but haven't we advanced beyond the limits of tubes and tone wheels rotating in magnetic fields, lovely and organic though they are, and having to invest in stocks for authentic Hammond Tone Wheel Lubricating Oil to keep the whaling industry afloat? What would happen if I dumped a half litre of Hammond Oil into my Nord??? Ok, now I'm just having fun...sorry! I love the idea that the swell pedal input increases the gain to the "MODELING PROCESSORS"...get it? They're not real! So why can't we adapt for the 21st(or is it 22nd?) century and make things better? OK, there's my rant.
Thanks David.
Thanks David.

Re: Organ Swell Should Turn Volume to 0
I'm going to try this one more time. I want the expression pedal input to control my synth patch volume, and/or my external module volume. I can control the amount of piano with keyboard velocity...no problem. I want to control the organ layer with a pedal, as I do the synth. However, I also want it to be out of the layer when the pedal is at 0. In the words of John Cleese in Fawlty Towers..." I could spend the rest of my life having this conversation"!
Garth Hudson would agree with me...How can something so simple be so complicated?
Enjoying the feedback so keep it coming!

Yup I see the point. In this case, I would assign the organ volume to the mod wheel as it's easier to take a swipe at that with the left hand rather than operating the rotary volume controller. With some practice, you can get this technique down so that you find a suitable gap to do it without missing a note.
Admittedly, your desired approach is better and I suggest putting it forward to nord. In the meantime, the mod wheel should get you out of a hole and allow you to go back to using 2 outputs.

Re: Organ Swell Should Turn Volume to 0
Making a NS appeal to Hammond purists has a downside, aside from no real drawbars...no real second manual...please give us the choice in the setup menu for zero or no zero.
NS4 / NS3 / NS-EX / Modular G1 / G2 / G2X / NL3

For god's sake, play a proper hammond and get what Nord were trying to do.
Otherwise hook your pedal up to control the volume and sound very bad indeed.

Re: Organ Swell Should Turn Volume to 0
If you need to set the Organ or any other section all the way from 100 to 0. If you do not care much for the purist hammond swell then do this:
- Set the volume you desire for that section.
- Press and hold CTRLPED on the Morph Section.
- While halding CTRLPED move the volume knob of the section where you want it to be when the pedal is all the way to 100% (i.e. set organ section to 0)
- make sure your pedal is connected to the CTRLPED input.
- Enjoy

Re: Organ Swell Should Turn Volume to 0
I have 2 or 3 suggestions. 1) The morph function can be accomplished at different rates.
2) the morph function can cover limited percentages
For example string patch might be 0-100%,
Piano 0-75%
Organ would depend on drawbar setting.
Or 3) one or more sounds could be morphed completely opposite
Of the other sound(s).
Good luck,

Re: Organ Swell Should Turn Volume to 0
Hey JazzyStu
Sorry about my anger comment! My apologies. I am most likely very much your senior and grew up playing(and lugging up flights of stairs) Old B3's and various Leslie cabinets...My last B was a 1964 which I had to sell to pay my bills and is now in the hands of a keyboardist who I respect greatly and I know it has a good home. However, in recent years I have become a jobbing musician for a number of artists of various genres and am spending a lot of time flying gear on the festival circuit where you can't always get a B and Leslie. Plus, I have to recreate the record which might have Piano, Synth, Strings, Pads, and...yes...Organ! So, my point is that while I would love to just play any of the aforementioned instruments alone, that's not the real world. All I ask is that the swell pedal input goes to 0. That's all. I love my Nord. Just make the organ swell go to 0! If I can take advantage of all the benefits of having the swell be a pre preamp function so that it emulates the real McCoy, hey! I'm on cloud 9! Just make it go to 0.
All the best
