Hi RL,
Oh bloody hell, just when i thought this year can't get anymore worse !! Thats the worst thing i have heard dude !!!
Is it WRONG that Nord make follow up keyboards which don't allow for such data transfers ?? i mean surely they must know customers who stay loyal to Nord are going to want to be able to retain such programing/settings. i could understand it if i was switching from a Nord Lead to a Nord Organ keyboard, but i am just upgrading within the same catagory of instrument (ie. the Stage range).
i have programed the F**K out of my keyboard but it sounds like unless i can place both instruments back to back and manually program everything back in again, then everything is lost !!
i have stored tons of Program Changes (to my JV1080) and i would have hoped that i would have at least been able to 'dump' this aspect of each Preset over from one machine to the other.
Ta,
Paul

Why does the NS2 not have a slot entitled Elec Grand (for the CP80) ?? And it has 2 x Elec Pno (for Rhodes) ??
Are the dimensions the same (in other words, will and NS2 fit into a hard flightcase of a Stage Classic) ??
Can you step thru your programs vertically (for lack of a better description). So from A1 to B1 to C1 etc ?? i don't see a Page + / Page - pair of buttons like on the Stage Classic ??
Cheers.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.
It's worth your while to download the manual for the Stage 2 from Nord's website to get the best idea of what it can do.
The main differences are:
1. More Piano memory
2. The ability to use the sample library
3. A somewhat expanded synth section
Of course there are lots of other smaller improvements including an upgraded Hammond Organ model and loads of bits and pieces.
If it helps, I have frequently considered changing my Stage Classic for a Stage 2, but each time I am faced with the conclusion that my Classic does everything I *need* it to do, it just doesn't do everything I *want* to do. For example, I would like several grand pianos to choose from, but I only need one, and it does the job fine. As a working musician, I have to justify spending money on new gear in terms of improved earning potential, and the Stage 2 doesn't pass that test for me. (But I would still kill to have one!)

Thank you Red Leo,
Thats so helpful indeed.
Yes, the 500MB Piano Memory is luxurious !! And abillity to download XL versions.
The sample library is something which would definately interest me. i was very impressed (in particular) with the Electric Guitar patch that i heard on a couple on dvd demos. It really sounds amazing.
The Synth sounds are excellent (and the addition of the Arpeggiator etc).
The Hammond and sounds on the Stage Classic are plenty good enough for me as they are. So i am not too bothered about any such updated versions. And the External Section and FX Section on the Classic are totally fine for my needs.
My three main points are these :-
1 - i do need more Piano memory, and would like XL versions.
2 - i would like to be able to download samples like the Electric Guitar etc.
3 - i need more Banks (there are 4 x Banks of 100 x slots on the NS2). But only 21 x Banks of 6 x slots (or whatever it is) on the Stage Classic. i am using the Nord midi-ed up to either an EMU sampler, or a Roland JV1080. So i need lots of free slots to store in Program Change commands as well as other External Section data. The free slots on my Stage Classic are guzzled up in one hit !! Nightmare !!
Now, my reason(s) for NOT wanting to change are :-
1 - i payed about £2,000 for my Nord Classic about 3 x years ago (though obviously its paid for itself thru my gigging and its constant use). But if i stuck it on ebay i bet i wont get much over £500 for it. And you dont really seem to see to many on ebay anymore.
2 - i spent 3 x months programing zillions of stuff into the External Section part of my Presets. It take WEEKS to punch in data like Program Change and Control Change etc. And its totally mind numbing but you need to concentrate cause its very easy to get it wrong. It will be a mission to redo it all again !!
Best ,
Paul

Would you be able to send me a link please as i can't seem to find the thread ?? Cheers.
You can find the tool in the Download section of this forum, a link to the main thread about it is also included
http://www.norduserforum.com/downloads.php?cat=7
But if your concerns are mainly about the Extern section, I am not sure that editor will store them (because it is based on duml of Control changes sent by the NS, which address almost all parameters of organ/piano/synth sctions and common rotary/reverb, but not sure about EXT)

You have 4 banks called A B C D, (with 20 pages per bank and each page has 5 patches) so yes you can jump from C1 to A1, you have then 5 buttons that access the 5 patches in each page.
So from bank A1 you can jump to bank C1, by pressing C bank button. The five buttons access the patches in that page C01:1 to C01:5.
You move to other pages with the page + and - buttons (or with the rotary encoder button). You can also scroll the patches by category or alphabetically.

Thanks Mr G,
i must be blind but i could not see where the Page+/- buttons are on the NS2 ?? Or are they shared with another function button ??

What i was hoping was that i could MIDI DUMP (even if one patch per time) each patch from the Stage Classic to the NS2, and then all the data from each patch (like all the sound settings and midi settings etc) would be contained in each DUMP.

The ones labelled "Program Page"

to the right of the Program Banks ABCD buttons.
Yes they do other functions as well. Cheers.
