Thought so too in my city. When I entered the classes, I thought there would be full of kids that would be better than me. But to my surprise, there were some adults that were just learning how to play jazz and did so for a hobby (curiously enough they were all medical doctors).
So try to look around, you never know what you'd find!!

I switched from bass to organ in 2007 when I found the Nord C1 at age 47.
The secret is to practise every day in a stuctured manor. 15 mins a day is superior to 75 min on sunday.
And to practice so slow that you can play it right.
And accept that it takes time.
But age is not the major obstacle - finding time every dat is the bigger real challenge.
Go for it !!!!

Totally agreed!!!
Usually I am so busy with college and work, plus my girlfriend that I ended up practicing about 2 hours only 2 days a week (thursday and saturday). Now that I am on vacations I've been practicing just scales and chords to improve my technique (I've been sort of self taught but now I got a real classical piano technique-focused teacher and told me how I was playing wrong) and let me tell you that with practicing a little everyday I feel like I advance more than playing for long only one day a week.
Saludos,
Gustavo

As a beginner, don't practice to play fast stuff, play slow but evenly. Practice scales and arpeggios slowly, until they sound smooth and even. The biggest trap is to "practice" what you already can play and to play that on and on. Look for more difficult scales and arpeggios or II-V-I structures to play them really slowly and evenly to get that into your fingers.... Get a metronome.
