Some synths/modules, however, also implement a midi THRU setting using the midi OUT, so the OUT can also send what comes from the IN if set to do so.

Thanks a lot, thats working really great !! All 3 x instruments sound good together !! Two sets of Program Changes worked fine also (which i am very pleased about !!),
Regarding setting all the Split-Points, would you set the Key Ranges individually on the Emu (RH) and JV1080 (LH), or would you just program Presets on the Nord setting the Key Ranges (ZONES) here ?? i have 3 x Splits on some of my Presets and it semes so much easier and quicker to use this facility on the Nord. Or would you keep the Nord in SINGLE Mode and make all the Key Range programing on each of the sound-modules ?

You can set your split points either way, both methods work. The slight disadvantage of setting splits on the Nord is that the choice of split points is limited. Use the Nord's split points where they work for you, and if you ever need split points that you can't get from the Nord, do it the other way round. You can mix and match the way you set split points per program/preset, so it's not an either/or decision.

Hi Red Leo,
Thanks very much indeed. Its always refreshing to get another opinion from a fellow keyboard player.
What i am going to do is keep every split-point(s) Preset split at the SAME point(s). Then i will never go wrong (with my playing) because the split-point will be the SAME for every split-point Preset. Also, i am going to set everything via the Nord (rather than on the individual modules). i really like the LED's which show you where the split-points are. And of course the beauty of setting the split-points onboard the Nord means that i can very easily CHANGE them if i want. It would be a nightmare to change these on the sound-modules during a gig or rehearsal !!
Even though the Nord split-points are a bit limited, i can live with them and they are only a semitone out from where i would normaly place them (which is not worth getting frustrated over).
The only thing i am really undecided on is whether to use the Roland JV1080 for Synth and Orchestral sounds to Layer with the Emu (so for RH), or for Bass sounds (so for LH) ??? The Bass sounds on the Nord Synth Section are OK but the ones on the JV1080 really kick ass. And have stuff like Fretless, Slap, Jaco and tons of complex Synth Basses. Its a real dialema because i can't start any such programing until i decide which way to go !!
Ta,
Paul

Yup. There's usually some restrictions on usage though. For example, I think the Stage will not send on a MIDI clock it receives, just the notes and MIDI CC messages. The manual doesn't seem to mention this, so it remains a bit unclear to me.
Incoming MIDI that matches the Global or Slot A/B channels can be re-routed on
the Extern channel to the Stage 2’s MIDI OUT jack or the USB interface, if the Extern
section is active on the current Program. This setting determines if this re-routing
should apply or not.
This is from the MIDI Menu section of the manual. Seems like the Extern section needs to be enabled.

monsterjazzlicks has got a Stage Classic, not the Stage 2, so I don't think the Soft Thru option is available.
