Taking advices from this thread, I just bought myself a Boss FV-500L pedal for my NS2 (to use as control/expression). It doesn't work ! Or rather, its range only goes from 93% to 100%. I've tried to set the right pedal type in the NS2's menu, but the FV500 isn't listed, and none of the list's entries will help.
RB4U1: how did you manage to make it work ? (and yes, I've tried turning the knob next to the tuner output around... It only narrowed the range even more.)
I use a FV500L (two actually), setting EV5 in the Global settings menu and I have no problems at all.
Check that:
- the
stereo cable you are using is OK and connected to the EXP out of the pedal
- the pot on the side of FV500L (which seta the minimum) is fully turned counter-clockwise (= off/0), you can do thsi while in the settings menu so you can see the % changing as you move the pot (with pedal fully up of course)

I actually have the reverse problem. If I bring the pedal all the way down, I can never get my knobs to reach 0. However, in the configuration menu for the pedal, the NS2 will read 0%-100%. Anyone know if this is a software or hardware issue? The pedal is brand new...

I realized a few days ago that to get correct amplitude (from 0 to 100%) with the Roland EV-5, my system menu setting is set on "EV-7".
If I set it to "EV-5" can only reach something like 97%.
Of course, the pedal knob is set to 0.
It behaves smooth and full range with the menu set to EV7.
The pedal is a Roland EV5.
I'll take some videos or photos.
My OS is 1.70 on a NS2 rev B.

Thanks for that bit of info, frantzkb. Yes, here too my EV-5 works better in EV-7 mode too.
I very recently noted that while moving the pedal, sometimes it flickered between 2 leds. Now it doesn't.

Thx for confirmation. Exactly the same observation on the leds here.
That setting just works fine

Nothing major, but if we can avoid someone else searching ... I send a PM to our Nord forum user.

I bought the EV-5 not so long ago and I had been wondering if the potentiometer was already half-worn.

But now it seems that it is cured and most likely something odd in the EV-5 mode of the NS2.

Hi,
After contacting Nord, I got a clear & informative answer very fast (Thank you Mr-T

).
I have two EV5 (one stay in the gig bag, always ready, on stays at home) and they do not behave the same way.
The one I bought a few months ago always works fine, and I just select "EV5" in my system menu.
The second ev5 I bought recently cannot reach 100% and shows some hesitations, switching between led levels for instance.
The a few questions started ... same pedals, different behavior, different settings ...
The good news is : the 2 pedals can work fine with the same setting.
Clavia added feature in the latest OS version 1.70 for the NS2 (from
update history) :
- Added a pedal gain menu for control and swell pedals to be able to compensate for pedals with a lower output than expected.
This is a system menu setting, right after the pedal model setting.
The setting "EV5" with gain "2" works fine for my two pedals.

I noticed after upgrading to OS 1.70 that my problem was fixed. Strange.
You'll also notice that the EV-5's range knob (on the side of the pedal) sometimes moves ever so slightly during performance. If you're still getting « can't reach 100% » or « can't reach 0% », you might want to make sure that this little bugger hasn't moved while you play!

À expression (swellpedal) to organ is never 0 in the start. It starts at ca 10% and the travel to 100% is not linear, the overdrive would crank up at around 80-100%
À volumepedal is linear from 0-100 %
You can play volumepedal when playing piano etc and expressionpedal on organ with the same pedal at the controlport But you must set this up in the settings First.

Well ... I had to unscrew & open the EV-5 two times since my last post here, had to fix the allen screw on a correct position on the potentiometer.
This pedal suffers because I keep my foot moving with tempo on it for hours.
Since the last time I had to do this "calibration", I am now between 5 (min) and 99 (max). The potentiometer's range is just too wide.
