Hi - there seems to be a new os version for the C2 quote "to get the same B3 organ engine and rotary emulation as the new Nord C2D". Perhaps there is a chance to see the same soon for the NS2 ? Regards, Robbie

Just seen an announcement that the C2's organ engine can now be upgraded to the same version as the C2D. With that in mind, im wondering Nord will now allow us to upgrade the NS2 organ seeing as its the same engine as the C2?

Lets hope so..

EDIT: i got beaten to it!! Anyway, yes, lets hope so again!!

Yeah i saw it too. Let's pray!! :p
Maybe i need to take my words back on the hardware, and it it probably possible
with an OS update. I hope that :p

The only strange thing is, the new C2 was allready out and after that Nord give us the new OS for the NS2
without the improved organ.

That is an exciting development! Since the NS2 organ section is based on the C2, it would seem like there's a good chance it will be upgradable as well. Less likely for the Electro 3, which is based on the C1 organ, and was not upgradable to the C2 version.

The NS2 organ is based on the C2. This new upgrade for the C2 brings it the enhancements of the just-released C2D.

While people complain about what Nord sometimes doesn't do, they really have a great track record for supporting existing users. The new piano samples still work on the old Stage models (within their memory limits), they added Long Release to the original Nord PIano, and now they're adding the C2D organ enhancements to the C2. So I get the impression that that Nord doesn't hold back on any feasible enhancement to an old model. I think that if an upgrade is not offered, it requires some hardware or software capability that the older model didn't have. You can't expect them to always be able to exactly anticipate what software or hardware support will be needed for some future purpose.

This reminds me of a funny reverse situation. The Korg Oasys was a very expensive keyboard designed to be somewhat "future-proof." Toward that end, the Oasys had a button that did nothing, that the manual said was reserved for future use. They just built in something to have in case they needed another control for a future enhancement, to give them some more flexibility in development. Although Korg did come out with new enhancements to the OASYS, as it happens, none of them used that button. So there are users on the Korg forum who complain that there was a button that never got used! As if "reserved for future use" was some kind of guarantee that it would some day do something. Damned if you do, damned if you don't...

No matter how you look at, in product development or anything else, predicting the future is a tough thing.

It must be possible. The C2 was developed and released before the NS2 and why would they give the C2 more memory than the NS2. As you all said... they using the same organ section. Let's hope for the 2.0 OS!!

It doesn't necessarily simply come down to a question of memory. So far, only Nord knows whether it really is possible. We'll see...
